Wings Petitioning to Have Meech's Name on the Cup
Echolalia replied to CanadianSwede19's topic in General
Honestly the only player I really dislike on the team is Lilja. But I will jump on any opportunity to make fun of anyone. They're pro hockey players, I'm sure they can handle it. Besides, it makes the forums a more entertaining place to visit. As for Meech, honestly I don't see why he should get his name on the cup. He didn't meet the quota, and the games he did play, personally, I didn't see him as a significant driving force for the outcome of those games. He played well, yes, but we still would've won the cup if he hadn't played a single game. Don't get me wrong, I love this kid and he has tons of potential, but looking at it as objectively as possible, i just don't see any real argument for his name to be on the cup. -
Instead of me helping him, why doesn't he help me pay my debt from student loans that I will continue to get over the next 5-6 years. I'll never get paid in the millions. Welcome to reality Fedorov.

Wings Petitioning to Have Meech's Name on the Cup

Hahha yes. yes he is. In fact, can we petition to take Lebda's name off the cup? -
I can see a lot of drama coming up from this Russian League vs NHL thing, although, if it gets to that, it would be totally badass to have an NHL vs RLK (or whatever its called) game with all the potential tension between the leagues and the players that belong to them.

thanks. at least its the offseason so nobody will actually see my goof.

Go on youtube and watch the Bertuzzi incident closely. After the initial punch that Bertuzzi landed on Moore (before anyone was laying on the ice, btw), you see Moore's arms and head go limp as if he just lost consciousness. It is at this time that Moore falls forward, with no severe driving force into the ice from Bertuzzi. Bertuzzi was holding onto him, but not unlike the way many other fights end up with one player being taken down to the ice. The only difference in this case is that Moore was already unconscious at that point, so he had no way to brace for the impending fall. Then after the fall 300 other guys jump in so all sorts of mess ends up happening, but the point I'm trying to drive through is that from the video, after the 1st punch occurred, there is 0 voluntary movement observed from Moore. A conscious player would, at the very least, turtle up to brace for the fury, ala Lemieux.
-
I don't think Lemieux had much of a chance to defend himself. McCarty essentially sucker-punched him right off the bat and Lemieux fell on one hit. He never had time to get back up because McCarty was already on top of him. The Bertuzzi incident was similar, not exact, but similar, and Bert is a hell of a lot bigger than McCarty is. If Dmac had Bertuzzi's arms and weight on him and attacked Lemieux the way he did, Lemieux may very well have been taken off the ice with an injury. Also: yes Lemieux was a dirty player, but so was Moore. Very much so.

If he ends up playing with Kovalchuk that 58 is going to look a bit small.

This pretty much hits the nail on the head.

Man get a giant squid fighting a sperm whale. You could BS all day about what that could mean.
-
Definitely, although before the Moore incident, for me personally, at least, I hated Bertuzzi because he was such a good stick handler, as well as such a big body that he could skate into opposing team's zones with opposing defensmen unable to strip the puck from him, or at the very least check him off of it. In addition to that, he was an enforcer. Essentially he was the bully of the nhl with a beautiful scoring touch, but if he came to the Wings during that time, I would've been ecstatic.

Kippursoft 1998 Steve Yzerman or 2008 Nick Lidstrom

Nobody remembers anymore. Just remember to hate Bertuzzi with a passion no matter where he goes and what he does.

Well coke is illegal here now, but I'm sure your sis won't have too much trouble finding some other drug merchandise for you here in Detroit.

Hah I think there have been reports of players' babies in the past pissing in the cup, so its definitely familiar with the role. edit: at least now I won't be as pissed if we lose the cup next year, knowing the assholes that overthrew us are drinking from a cup that Draper's kid crapped in.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be"Wings who've won all 5 cups(97, 98, 02, 08, 09)"? I mean... unless we haaave to go through all the formalities of beating everyone all over again next year...

1. Zetterberg's famous 5 on 3 play is probably the MVP play of the finals. 2. Zetterberg's feed to Datsyuk to cap off his 1st career hattrick against the Stars. 3. Homer managing to be in the crease from 8 inches outside the crease. Twice. 4. Franzen's single handed goal skating it in from the blueline in a loss to the Pens. 5. Filppula's diving goal that's featured in someone's avatar.
-
I believe he was suspended for the remainder of that year, including the post season.

I think this lineup is probably the best way to go Dats Zetterberg Homer Franzen Filppula Hossa Cleary Hudler Neil Draper Maltby Kopecky McCarty and Downey, if not traded, will work their way into the roster for necessary games. However, I think its overkill having McCarty, Downey, and Neil all on the same team. McCarty I can't see going to play at any other team, simply because all of his support comes from Detroit, whether its playing hockey or battling personal issues, so he's most likely a shoe-in. That leaves either Downey or Neil, and to be honest, I'm happy with Downey. He's not as hockey-smart as Neil is, but we don't need him to be. Same with if Neil were to come here. We would be paying an extra half million for a mediocre hockey sense that isn't necessary for this team. It would be nice to have him, but its not worth it in my opinion at least.
-
Right now he's a solid second liner, and for what he's getting paid, I personally thing he's a steal. If we had the cap space I would love for him to come back and man our second or third line.
-
How many fights has Hossa been in since then?
-
I dunno. I think its a safe bet. I mean... it is the Jackets.

http://bluejackets.nhl.com/team/app/?servi...rticleid=368147 This kid had so many variables around him, but undeniable skill none the less. I was hearing projections for him anywhere between 2nd pick overall to 15-20th pick overall. Anyway, if this kid pans out, the Central Division will really have a stacked future.

Oh well Luongo. You came close to your dream. Now its time to quit while you're ahead.
