I don't even think the Wings' regular season ticket prices are that good

Have the Stars suffered any injuries against the Ducks or Sharks?

Out of the three 3-0 series leaders right now...
Echolalia replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Dallas hands down. They've had the most difficult schedule, and they're still keeping up with everyone else in the postseason. Dallas knocks off Ducks and Sharks (pending) Pens knock off Sens and Rangers (pending) Wings knock off Preds and Avs (pending) Yes, in the postseason everything changes, but I would much rather verse an unmotivated Sens team and Rangers, or hungry Preds and Avs teams than take consecutive series against the Ducks and Sharks. -
Whether or not you want to blame a depleated Avs team or the fact that the Wings are just better, they're up 2-0 in the series and heading into Denver. A quick reminder to you all that in the last series the Wings were in a similar situation, and ended up returning to Detroit with the series tied at two. Now rumor has is that Theodore was sick and thats his excuse for poor play, and he should be ready to go come Tuesday. Forsberg is also expected to be playing in game 3. In any event, Quenneville has some tough decisions to make that may make or break the series. Do you think they'll go with Budaj whos been at least solid in net when called upon, or go with Theodore, hoping to boost his confidence a bit? With Franzen having around 50% of the series' goals in addition to a couple assists, do you match your top defensive line against his, or keep it against the Dats Z, Homer line? On the other hand, if you were Babcock, what strategies would you use to ensure a sweep?

Mad about Al not being able to swing the octopi?

How do you win? Can you win??

If the Wings get to the finals, no matter who they verse it will be really exciting Wings vs Flyers: rematch of the 97 year Wings vs Habs or Rags: Original 6 finals matchup Wings vs Pens: the media will s*** bricks

So the more I watch Franzen the more I think of Bertuzzi (or hopefully in a couple years, at least). He's a big body (although I still think he's learning how to use it), definitely capable of being a "power-forward", and he's more finesse than I think anyone expected. He's developed a scoring touch thats almost been around for too long to be considered a "streak", and at 28 he has yet to hit his prime. Maybe I'm just a little too optimistic about Franzen, but all the pieces seem to be there, at least. What do you guys think? Maybe I'm just too tired. I dunno. Sway me.

No, Peter Forsberg is definitely still great. I think he has more points than games played for this year, and his team is something like 12-2-2 with him, and 5-8-2 without him (not actual numbers, but something along those lines). I am tired of hearing about how the Wings would've been taken down easily had Forsberg played. Unfortunately with signing him and all his offensive prowess, you're also inheriting his bad injury history, and thats part of the game.

I would seriously get shivers down my spine if that happened. Imagine having a 15 minute break for all the octopi to be cleaned up (not to mention the wrath of vocals from the crowd). Imagine what the other team would be thinking.

hahahahahahaha oh my very nice

The first two lines of either team aren't going to win the series for either team. Sakic and Forsberg are sick offensively, especially come playoffs, but Dats and Z are sick defensively (and if that fails, we still have defensemen). I'm predicting the first two lines to cancel each other out, and leave the scoring to unusual sources (who, oddly enough, have been scoring regularly this postseason for us): people like Hudler and Draper we will have to rely on to take that extra step in getting pucks in the net.

If Mickey said it it has to be true

Babs is headcoach of the Red Wings for a reason. I trust his judgment.

this is excellent too bad noone will ever read it -
Its looking like I'll miss the first game, unless I can find it online... my roommate is moving out today, and his tv is the only tv that we have. Conveniently enough today is also the day that my girlfriend cancels her cable...

For some reason I'm less nervous about versing the Avs than I was versing the Preds. Hopefully theres merit behind that, but who knows... Forsberg and Sakic are scary to go up against, because of all the playoff experience, chemistry and pure skill they have between the two of them, plus their younger players (Wolski and Stastny). If we can get to their goalie early in the series and destroy what confidence he has built up, the series shouldn't be too difficult, but if he keeps riding his streak we might have more scoring problems.

I was pinning next year as his breakout year. This may put a dent in my hopes for him

I've been a part of the Late Night Crew for over a year, now, and I'm ashamed to admit I have not posted in a single GDT during a game this post season. I've been really busy with school and such. Anyway, go San Jose, and go Washington!
