Wouldn't it be this Thursday or Saturday? A week between series doesn't seem too familiar

Theres a good quote thats paraphrased to something along the lines of 'a good player makes his own luck', and if you look at this past series, the quote applies perfectly. The media and Preds say we got a lucky goal because the linesman kept the puck in- well it was Datsyuk that pressured the defensman and cut off his options to nothing but shoot it up the boards- where the official happened to be, and it was Zetterberg who took advantage of the opportunity. Then it was Draper who got a lucky bounce off a defensman's skate to put the puck in the net. I believe it was Wayne Gretzky that said you don't score 100% of the shots you don't take, and in a playoff grind, you don't get the pretty goals. Then the game winner today from Lids- he had the opportunity to clear it, and instead of shooting it into the corners, he took his chances and shot it at the net, aiming for about 10 feet outside the goal line. Yes luck had to do with all of these opportunities, but it was the Wings that catalyzed them to begin with. Also- if the media is going to blame this series completely on luck, they're doing a fine job of forgetting about all the luck Nashville had in this series. Three different occasions where they got two goals past Hasek on generally weak shots in a 30 second margin. A goofy bounce from behind the net that goes right to an offensive stick. The fact that the Wings have hit multiple posts in each game this series and clearly dominated the gameplay where the score sheet says otherwise. Nashville had their bounces just like Detroit. The difference was only one team decided to take advantage of them.

1)Datsyuk hands down for both his offensive and defensive domination over everyone else on the ice. 2)Kronwall comes in second for being a solid offensive defensman (for the most part), and at times singlehandedly bringing the physicality to take the momentum away from the Preds. 3)Draper for playing solid playoff hockey. I noticed him more than anyone else grinding away in the corners and around the net, and thats the kind of player you absolutely need in a playoff series.

I would rather play the Avs, because that means San Jose will have another "hands-full" series against who's left standing between the Stars and the Ducks, and if it came down to it, I would rather verse a tired, ragged, and hopefully weakened Stars, Ducks or Sharks team in the Conference Finals, than a relatively fresh Flames in the 2nd round, who beat the media favorites at their best.

seriously... seriously. we need to get a bunch of toy or stuffed octipi for the crowd, and we should just swing them obnoctiously during the games.

I don't think Abdelkater or Meech would do any better than anyone that we already have. At the very least the players we have now are proven nhl players; something neither Abdelkator nor Meech have proven they are yet. I just think our team needs to calm down and play with a little more confidence and hunger. With the series down to 3 games, hopefully that isn't something the Wings will be lacking.

Elis isn't a solid goalie. He isn't enough for the Preds to make a deep cup run, at least. He gives up huge rebounds,and can't be relied on to steal a series (or a game); he's only the last line of defense, nothing more. The Wings need to be more aggressive in front of the net if we are to capitalize on these flaws, though. All our rebounds are bouncing to their cluster of defense, and we aren't getting clean shots from the point. We need to work on that along with keeping them from feeding off momentum.

Yeah, I agree. He's also had a couple great oppurtunities to score and blew both of them. I don't know whats uo, but we really need him to pick it up

pssh draper needs to start pulling his salary in like everyone else if the wings are going to win this i blame him for all our problems even the tigers loosing and the poor economy

I don't like that name for either of them. Euro twins should be reserved for Henrik and Daniel Sedin- who are both European and... twins. Dats and Z should be nicknamed The Neighboring Acquaintances. Not only is it accurate, but it rolls off the tongue

He actually stays in close contact with Bowman, so there are alot more similarities than differences.

Because there is nothing in the rulebook about doing what he did, I say its completely fair, and a clever strategy also. However, if this encourages every other screen player to do the same thing, then I think a rule needs to be put in place. I guess its kinda like a Sirdrake tactic.... "Whats to stop Avery from facing the goalie when he screens and waving his stick in his face to distract him from everything else?"

In regards to the offsides- the play was definitely on sides. You can see this pretty easily with the right replay, and you think the linesman would've called it if it hit him while he was offsides. He was right there. In regards to the Homer goal- nobody can argue that against anyone in LGW after all the calls we've seen this year. We know that part of the rulebook inside out, and interference wasn't made. However, I think they did get robbed on that first goal with the preemptive whistle or whatever excuse the refs are going to use. I also think this is another perfect example of why replays should be allowed in goal/no goal situations regardless of the refs call on the ice. Especially in playoff games. Overall, though, if all these calls were against the wings, I would be livid, although only so much blame can be given to the refs when on consecutive nights your team has blown power play opportunities, been held without a decent amounts of shots for large margins of the game, and are generally outplayed. In any event, with the series in Nashville now, the game should get a little more interesting.

Collectively they seem like a good group of people. Only one person was Lidstrom bashing, and others were defending Lids as one of the greats. They kinda reminded me of a Dallas version of LGW, actually.
