I like Fillppula. He reminds me a bit of Datsyuk when he first started playing for the wings. He has a great view for the ice and plays with a lot of confidence. I agree that he needs to shoot more, but so did Datsyuk until last year. Personally I would keep him around a couple more years; I think he has yet to break out.

Nathan Horton from the Panthers? I like him alot actually. He's a young gritty player with alot of promise in the future, but Florida has him signed until 2013/2014.

We need to keep working with Versus and basic channels, although more so. In addition to the second half of the season, we need to pressure nbc to provide all season access, possibly on Saturdays instead of Sundays, so there isn't nfl competition. Versus needs to keep chugging and improving its name. A couple years ago it was nonexistant to a non hunting/fishing buff, and now its spread throughout hockey fans and is beginning to create a name for itself. Its small, but at least now a days, most people will know what you're talking about if you mention VS in a sentence. But we need to exploit eachother more.

If the facts in this article are true, then this could be Bettman's greatest move; sticking up for the nhl and not putting up with a totalitarian networking scheme.

Its not Holland's job to please every last nit-picky fan. His job is to compile a cup-contending team, which is something that we have been for the past 15 years, including each of the past 5 when the entire nhl had predicted it to be the year of the Wings' downfall.

I think it could've been called either way. Shannon's skates never go into the crease, and the only reason his butt does contact Khabibulen is involuntary, and after Khabi tried pokechecking the puck. I don't know if he caught Shannon's skate or not.

Are you serious? If anything, I felt Schneider was more of a defensive liability because of how much of an offensive style he has. I remember tons of times when he made a stupid pinch and cost us the goal. Yeah, Schneider scored against us. So what? That's saying next to nothing.

To account for injuries, bad reffing, and luck, yes we absolutely do need to make some trades.

I hope Howard and Osgood split the games played between them. If anything, this could be the motivation the Wings have lacked lately. Having an AHL goalie behind you tends to make you play with more of a sense of urgency throughout the entire 60 minutes. Not to mention Jimmy will get more nhl experience in.

I would love for Luongo to be a Wing, but he would cost way to much, assuming Vancouver somehow is willing to part with the face of the franchise. I would also love some gritty players on this team; some more Clearys. I don't like the idea of trading Filpulla away, though, because that kid seems to be bursting with potential. Hudler I don't care about, Sammuelson, Lilja, Meech, Draper, Maltby, Franzen, I wouldn't mind seeing any of them go, so long as who replaces them is a better fit with our organization. But some North American blue collar players could really add some character to a predominantly finesse team.

Thats a good thing to have in an enforcer, though, because you know he isn't going to get blinded with rage every three games and cost your team a penalty. He picks his fights, and 99% of the time he picks a fight when the wings are loosing to gain momentum. He doesn't fight when the wings are winning, because theres no point. He knows his role and he plays it well.
