The thing is alot of refs go with exactly whats in the rulebook, no matter how chincey of a hook or whatever it actually is. I also think i support the coach's challenge rule, but limit it to twice a game or something. The war room in Toronto will actually have some work to do then.

I think the wings definitely have the best 1-2 combo out there, but if this does get into a debate, let me go out and say that neither goalie has been playing their best hockey this past week (let alone the rest of the team), so keep recent stats out of it.

So i didn't get to see the end of the game. Did Homer actually touch giguere, or was it one of his other 19 phantom plays. Give me the scoop.

The way the wings have been playing since all star break has been dismal. Frankly I'm surprised we've won as many as we have, but they haven't looked like the team that's been playing since October. Hopefully getting beat by two of the worst teams in the league will light a fire underneath the Wings and they'll come out flying tomorrow. Especially because they're without their top grinder now, for the next couple months.

I would prefer Hudler over Fedorov going into this year's playoffs. He's washed up. Prospal I think is a solid pick up. Shouldn't cost too much and is an efficient, solid, player that we can use to boost up our second line. Blake also would be a good idea for defense.

The nhl just needs to tell the refs to be a little more conservative about their calling. Yes hooking is technically illegal, but its also technically a part of the game. So is interference. Its one of those things that you can't draw a clean line down and say "everything that's beyond this point is illegal", but unfortunately Bettman has these refs going by exactly whats in the rulebook, whether an "illegal" play even slows down the other team or not. But yes, this is quite rediculious.

Are you serious? When did Downey get his ass kicked, because I can't remember any time since we've picked him up. He's also younger and in a lot better shape than McCarty. Oh, and hes also playing in the nhl level, something McCarty still has yet to prove he is still capable of. If McCarty still has enough fuel in him, I would be all for picking him up, simply because he would be cheap as hell and the Wings wouldn't be loosing anything in return, but if it interferes with us getting a player like Hossa, Sundin, or even someone like Prospal, then I say stick with Downey and/or Drake.

I think any trade involving Cleary would have the winners be whoever is getting Cleary.

I like the idea of getting Prospal. He seems pretty solid of a player, and he's still producing numbers even when Lacavalier isn't. And I'm more willing to get rid of Hudler than Fillpulla, if any trade comes down to it.

NO matter how bad the Wings play, they will only be down by 1 goal going into the third, and it will be something incredibly flukey to tie the game up, and eventually they'll win it. So 4-3

I don't know if theres an official backup to Aflac on GDTs, but its almost 4 and we didn't have one still, so I figured I'd at least give us a start. I'm not going to do all the cool little graphics or stuff, simply mention that Hasek is the probable starter tonight, and he is 9-0-0 against the Wild (two ties), with a .99 GAA. Oh, and he gives Gaborik nightmares. Also these games tend to be high scoring, so I'm expecting a 5-3 victory.

Ever since the All Star break, the Wings haven't been quite on. Just about all our games have been much closer than usual, and third periods have been more drastic than what we're used to. I want the Wings to treat Saturday like a playoff game and come out flying. At the very least it will give us momentum for Sunday

I've been entertaining this idea for a while now. People generally play better with the Wings, also, so I would expect his scoring to be a bit higher, especially when you look at his recent history, with Lecavalier not doing anything and he is still producing.

He has his goals higher than I thought if he's reaching for late 90's/early 00's McCarty. He seems hungry for it though, and confident that he has enough resources left to pull through. Hopefully everything works out.

Instead of trading him, how about we sign him to a 3 year contract close to 3 million a year, and make him an alternate captain when Lids/Draper retires. This guy brings to the table what the 90's era Wings had. He's gritty, not afraid to fly into the corners and sacrifice his body there or in front of the net to get the puck or create a scoring opportunity. He knows how to score, whether it be from a wrist shot in the slot, or gritting it out getting the garbage goals (or as I like to call them, playoff goals). He's not afraid to stick up for himself, or his teammates, even when it means facing Pronger, who is a clean 9 inches taller than him. And hes hungry for a cup. You could see it last year in the playoffs. He was one of our mvp's throughout the entire postseason last year. He was hungry as hell and it showed. Thats the kind of attitude our team feeds off of, and its the kind of attitude that we need to stick around. Besides, despite his being born in Europe (which is apparently a turn off for all the bandwagon fans), he has the blue-collar attitude of McCarty or Shanahan, players that were idols in the 90's and help put fans in the seats. He may not have that kind of effect on his own, but its something. Especially if McCarty comes back. ps as of right now only Zetterberg and Homer have more goals than he does, and he's fifth on our team in points, behind Z, Dats, Lids and Rafalski.

For all the crazy and unrealistic stats the Wings are putting up (not to mention an extra 5M to blow on a top scorer/defensman) we have no excuse not to win the cup

I would love if the Ducks didn't make the playoffs. Or better yet we beat them to get to the finals. Especially if they outplay us in the pinnacle game 5 but we walk away with the win. But whatever happens, St. Louis needs to at least get that 8th seed and let us whoop on them so we can get the cup already.
