You can't bring luck into the statement when Osgood has been consistently good up to this point (halfway through the season, just so we're all clear). Two or three games, yes, but not half the season. Tonight he didn't look up to par, but he defintely didn't get any help from the team either. Also, in the past two games the Wings have scored 3 goals, faced 57 shots on net (which for any other team is about normal, but our game average is closer to 20), and have been badly outplayed in just about every aspect of the game. Our entire team has been in a terrible slump, which quite honestly is something that should be painstakingly obvious to anyone whose watched the past two games. We're too solid of a team to have the luxury of blaming losses on a single player. When the Wings loose, the entire team is responsible.

Babcock was pissed about our last two outings. Expect the wings to come out HARD tonight. 5-1. Zetterberg, Filppula, Homer x2, Lidstrom Not Kovalchuk
-
I personally see him going to Ottawa
-
just retire already

why not make another one? this is letsgowings.com!!

aren't the griffins sucking pretty bad right now as a whole?

I would love to see that jersey if we end up versing Toronto in a winter classic

WE MUST GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS!!!

Wings 4-3 Spezza, Mezaros, Redden Homer, Cleary, Filpulla, Kronwall you heard it here first!

Why can't we trade Sammuelson, Kopecky, or Lilja? But I have to be honest. Franzen never struck me as a player to keep around long-term. He occasionally has his moments, but so does every other nhl player, and what he brings to the table isn't tough to find out there. Hudler has a shot that reminds me of a young Karyia, and if we can harness and utilize that, then we'll have our sniper that everyone's been hunting for. Filpulla is the next Datsyuk/Zetterberg (or as close as we're going to get, at least), and he's playing with alot of confidence and smarts out there. If he keeps up his progress I wouldn't be surprised to see him as an alternate captain/captain after the Zetterberg era, providing we have him that far down the road. Cleary is our grinder. Someone we can rely on to get dirty in the corners and in front of the net. Hes not always going to get the pretty goals, but in the playoffs they're too few and far between anyway.

If he were to retire right now he wouldn't make the hall of fame, but in the next three years he has a chance to break a couple key detroit goaltender records and really solidify his chances. Thats why I voted not yet.

that was one of the weirdest games I've seen in a while. Pucks bouncing all over the place, people slipping, horrible passing, great passing, weak shots, strong shots, everything
-
He deserves what he gets.

I'm not so sure about that. Judging from what I've seen this year, both have been extremely capable two-way players, but I've noticed that every time the puck is in our zone and Dats is on the ice, he is everywhere. The corners, along the perimeter, right in front of the net giving em' hell like a defensman, and he does has an amazing +/- and take away stats like someone else has already said. Those are both strong statistics to look at when it comes to defensive play.

I personally would play Osgood, and if the team starts slipping in the series, then put Hasek in. If the wings are down in a series 2-1 going into an essential game 4 and all of a sudden Babcock gives Hasek the nod, I believe that would put a lot of emphasis on Hasek playing good that game, as well as send a message out to the rest of the team saying "we're in trouble if we don't make changes, and that means everyone."

Hudler wouldn't go, but maybe Howard or more likely a defensman, as we're pretty stacked in that area

Why, thank you. You also forgot to mention the Ozzie chants and the super-successful waves.

I was at last night's game with a couple of my friends, and I was hoping to take advantage of the lack of good sales and get a good ticket late, but the best seats we could find two weeks before the game were nosebleeds. but we all know theres not a bad seat in that house also: i didn't know this, maybe other people don't either, but Hockeytown Cafe has a free shuttle that goes to and from JLA on home game nights. They pick up every fifteen minutes, so you can leave halfway through a game, or whatever you like. Its really convenient. My friends adn I parked one block from Hockeytown Cafe for free, just on some side street, went into the cafe, enjoyed some appetizers, and at 7:15 we went on the shuttle (great atmosphere, also) right to the game. I spent about 50 dollars on everything tonight, which I believe is a personal record.

I'm going to this game, so I'm expecting two very impressive fights, exciting 5 on 3s, a 9 round shootout victory, and autographs.

If Behind the Wings fan goes well, we definitely need to do one on you

I think we have all the tools to beat any team out there at its best. We have the hottest line in the league, our secondary scoring finally got its groove going, we have two of the greatest goalies in the league (thats really not fair, to be honest ), we have proven we can take and give a check when the time comes, we have tight defense (aside from lilja, of course), and assuming we make a trade at the deadline, some factor or another is going to get even better. So to be honest, all the greatest things that can keep us from winning a cup this year are things that revolve around our own team. Getting cocky, underestimating the opponent, injuries, not giving it 100% for at least 60 minutes (and any extra time required to beat the more stubborn teams). Babcock really has an important job trying to prevent us from stumbling over these potentially dangerous obstacles, but he did spectacular last year, so I have confidence that he can pull it off this year. So to answer your question, I'm personally not afraid of any single team out there as we have the resources to take anyone on, but Ottawa and St. Louis (believe it or not) are actually the two teams that I can see giving us the hardest time.
