If it came down to a player possibly getting injured on my team, personally I would forget about the instigator rule. When someone is taking liberties on your team to this degree, they need to be dealt with. All the penalties would cancel out anyway, because this guy had a penalty already for high-sticking.

A game that I went to a couple yeras ago during an intermission had the 'kiss' sign on the jumbotron and scanned the arena for couples to pressure into kissing. Of course there was some makeout music playing, but amidst the lovestruck and possibly embarrassed couples, the cameraman spotted a man with an empty seat next to him. Suddenly the music changed from the 'in the mood makeout stuff' to "All by Myself". I don't know if this happens regularly or not (it was the only time I had ever seen it at a game), but I definitely laughed out loud.

I'll admit the technique wasn't by any means difficult to pull off, but it was probably the best way for him to guarantee himself a goal, and we definitely can't forget style points . I just hope that goal lights a spark and he becomes a bit more of a consistent scorer

The Lecavalier line is explosive and I don't think our defense is capable of shutting them down completely in additoin to the rest of the team (especially with how we've been playing lately), yet at the same time, the Lightning's defense is their weakness, so we should be able to roll on all lines for this one. Have you seen any of the first 10 Wings games? Homer's phantom penalties were the cause of three goals disallowed, and keep in mind this is in a span of 10 or so games. I didn't see the game tonight, so I can't say whether the refs were biased or not, but things usually balance out with how often the refs suck these days. Besides, the Wings suck defensively on the powerplay, in case you hadn't noticed. edit: ps welcome back

The big thing that I'm hoping for is that so many people call/email in with complaints and whatnot that they cannot ignore that the nhl could be much much better than it is now, and there is alot of weaknesses that are spurring up since the Bettman era began. Like I said, I'm sure the calls will be screened and emails deleted, but those on the inside will know at least that the fans aren't happy

I think most of the Sakic is best arguments stem more from Detroit and Colorado being bitter rivals. Sakic lead the Avs while Yzerman lead the Wings. Any fan of Colorado would be no fan at all to admit that the captain of their worst enemy is better than their own captain, regardless of what the truth is, and whether or not they know it. And, as stated earlier, I think many of these folks posting are just kids who've only heard legends of the rivalries, but its before their time, so they're of course going to go with Joe.
