Could you imagine how many goalies would be s***ting their pants when they verse the wings with Homer and Smyth? That would be a full 2 minutes of blind penalty killing for any opposing goalie

I don't like the idea of updating the Olympia... lets move on and get a more sleek looking design. I really like the idea of making the new arena more than just an arena. Put some restaurants and bars and whatnot in it, some novelty shops (including a hockey pro shop), anything to make this arena an exciting place to be, and go beyond going to an arena just to watch a game. The actual seats should have more legroom and be built on a steeper gradient. I can't tell you how many times I went to the joe to be kicking the guy-in-front-of-me's back with my knees. Oh and I also like the idea of marquees that revolve around the entire upper bowl.

or is Giguere one of the most overrated goalies ever? I really don't think hes anything special. He by no means "stole" the series, nor did he make many "spectacular" saves, unless, ofcourse you think any shot into the matress-pads is a spectacular scoring chance destroyed. He got the first star for the last game of the series via nhl.com, despite his three goals and his less than .900 goals allowed average for the game. Don't get me wrong, anyone, I think hes just dandy as a number 1 goalie, but he isn't a star number 1 goalie IMO

I think we need to rearrange some of the conferences and make a schedule to where every team plays each other at least once. Maybe move a team or two back into Canada, because I honestly think we'll get more passion there than anywhere in America, no matter how much Bettman sells out to VS, Outdoor Network, The Religion Channel, or any other odd medium for a hockey series to be displayed on. Heck, even if the nhl we're to get back into ESPN and some other major sport channels, the majority of America just refuses to give hockey a chance... Also, Bettman get the hell out.

Even if they aren't known scorers, I really think some extra body with Filp and Kopezki can really go a long way, and lets get the grind line back in action by filling in another big body into the Draps line. I don't know a lot of the free agents this year yet (outside of the top names) so I really couldn't fill in the blanks for you, unless someone has a nifty website with all free agents as of now

Wow this is quite surprising considering they were the favorites to win the cup this year. Even with the disappointing first round exit, I would expect to see the team guaranteed to stay in Nashville at least until 2015

Chelios is the senior citizen of the NHL. He can do whatever the hell he wants and everyone has to put up with him.

The wings (and all Major sports teams in MI) will stay right where they are, especially with how successful they've all been most of them have been lately. The revenue that the city is bringing in is massive, even without the Joe selling out every game. I actually think I heard that in one month last year the Tigers brought more money into Detroit than the entire Superbowl week. Also: I'm optimistic that we'll hear something about a new arena, but realistically these things are usually made public about a year before the grand opening.

Hasek is the type of goalie who can completely rob the opposing team when they take advantage of a weak defense, and as I'd like to believe we are about the strongest team defensively, I don't see us being cup-worthy without Dom. Not for a couple years, at least. Who knows, maybe Howard will be some prodigy and keep our chances very high, but if there we're any other goalie in net this year (besides Kippursoft, maybe), I don't think the Wings would've gotten to where they did.

I am also pretty darn confident. We've been on the verge of exploding (some may argue we may have already) and they're only still in this because of sheer luck at the perfect moments. But when the best team in the league has its back to the wall, not even luck can bail their opponents out.

Holy cow I can't believe how many people believe Giguere has been the reason the wings are where they are!!! He has probably made 2 or 3 great saves this entire series. Otherwise he's mediocre at best. "So why are the Wings having so much trouble scoring, Echolalia??" Good question. And if you look upon past games where we lost, you will notice a trend on where the team is shooting the puck from and to. Shots are usually taken from the perimeter, and right into Giguere's stomach. Just about any other time we had a shot aimed NOT at his body, we either scored, hit the post or missed the net completely. Keep an eye out for that tonight.

Actually I'm hoping that the reffing is good. I'm pretty sure everyone (not just Detroit fans) will agree that Wings vs Sens is a MUCH better matchup than Ducks vs Sens, and maybe the bias will be in our favor to increase tv ratings for the finals. But then again, Bettman would love to see the cup go to a less popular city to spread popularity. But c'mon. I honestly don't think Anaheim has a prayer at winning the cup this year. The cup is waiting on Detroit or Ottawa.

I'm actually pretty optimistic about tonight, and oddly enough have no worry about whether this may be the last game for our Wings. The past 3 games we deserved to win, and we were robbed twice. We were robbed, not on lucky bounces, but by ourselves, because we didn't bury them when we had the chances (ie 5-3s 5-4s etc). We have way too much veteran experience to let that happen tonight, and you know we're going to see at least one team play with fury that hasn't been seen this year in the playoffs. Even if the Ducks do step it up and play to their max, I think we can overwhelm them. Wings victory 4-2. Franzen, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Draper Oh, and keep an eye out for the mule tonight. He's gonna play the game of his life.
