Buffalo is just too scared to verse the wings in the finals. They'd rather get sweeped by Ottawa
-
2 things that I would love to see tonight: 1) Our defense getting some help from backchecking forwards to ease the pressure in our corners, and get the puck out more quickly 2) Maintained pressure in their end If we can pull both of those off and keep up the good work on special teams, this game is in the bag.

Pronger scored on his own goal in overtime of game 3 to turn the entire series around and eventually lead to the Wings going on to win in the Stanley Cup finals.
-
I cannot believe it. In fact, I will not until a link pops up somewhere. However if this does happen, at the very least it may light a fire under Calder's butt because he knows his jobs at stake.

Theres no way they'll play Kopecky after missing the entire season save for the first month. Hes too rusty to jump into the conference finals. Hudler has heart, but that isn't our weakness in this series, and unfortunately, I don't think he can be much of an improvement over Calder, although it may be worth a shot. Hes a small guy and I'm worried for his future when he plays in this kind of game. I feel the same way about Ellis as I do Quincy. He's a good backup in the occasion that someone gets hurt, but hes just that: a backup. I don't think he's qualified to play full-time playoff hockey just yet. As for Calder, I really think Babs needs to call him out and directly demand a strong game from him. We all know that he's capable of driving the net with the best of them, and he thrives in the corners, and if we can keep the puck in their zone for an extra 5 seconds longer, that may be the difference in this series. Also: are there any sources that says he has a broken hand besides some far fetched allegations from a media outlet whose job it is to keep ratings as high as possible?

Well of course we're going to be worn out by the third when we're rolling on 2 lines (that are already shorthanded with injuries) due to penalties and failing to clear the zone. And of course penalties are caused from loosing the small battles, as well as one's cool. We have to get going from the get-go and keep the pressure strong. Lets wear down their players, and give our short-staffed defense a break for once

I honestly do think hes our MVP, if not, one of them. Although Hasek has really been fighting hard lately.
-
Hes been in Detroit too long to leave now. Not just because hes the face of the Red Wings, but because hes established his entire adult life as a Michigander. Seriously, think about it. Money isn't a priority with him, he just wants to be around the game, and he has everything he needs in Detroit-one of the most hockey-oriented cities in the nhl. No, he's staying.\ ps- nobody even said he was going to be an nhl GM. Lets take this one step at a time

Normally I would be worried as hell about this game, but in game 1, the wings played a B game verses Anaheim's A game, and we were lucky enough to win. Babcock acknowledged that we need to play harder if we really want to win the series, and the rest of the team agreed. I think we're going to come out flying tonight and take the series to Anaheim up two games to nothing.
-
If anything, playing either of the teams will give Hasek a little extra to play for, and hopefully will give it his all in the final round

very classy, good luck to you guys too

If we pick up Smith, we're back on our way to a dynasty hahaha Its really a tight budget too, but I really think it'll bank on what happens with Bertuzzi and Schneider, and not so much Lidstrom.

Don't look now, but our horrible power play (at least through the regular season) is almost at 1 for 5. Short handed has been excellent as well

what?? I've never even heard of surgery for a broken wrist. How the hell could you possibly need surgery unless your bone was shattered? I broke my wrist really bad in hockey a couple years ago (it would only be a slight overstatement to say that I could've fit my hockey stick where my wrist was supposed to be), it was an "acute break" according to doctors. They realigned it by sticking my finger in these chinese fingertrap-like things that hung from the ceiling, then laid a bunch of weights onto my arm to literally pull my arm straight. Then some specialist pushed and pulled on it till he said it was ready for a cast. 9 weeks later my wrist was good as new.

4-2 We'll play our A game tonight (looking at game 1 as a B game for us) and get some goals that nobody would consider flukey. They'll get past Hasek a couple times, but he'll be a wall in net again. Then we score on the empty net.
-
Detroit vs Vancouver just a couple years ago, I believe we lost our first 2 games at home, then turned the series around and won
-
I remember when I first saw that I almost pissed my pants. Inglewood Jack!!
-
Hasek was stopping even the would-be fluke shots last night. If this series comes down to the battle of the goalies, then we'll win no problem.

I'm sure everyone here is surprised with how well Quincy has been playing for us this post season. He hasn't taken a single chance that could hurt us, and is really doing an amazing job filling in. Having said that, there is still a reason why Kronwall is in the nhl and Quincy is in the minors, and given the choice between the two (assuming they're both healthy), I would take Kronwall 10 times out of 10. Hes a very physical player and can be gritty and come out of our corners with the puck. In addition to that, hes played the entire season with our other defensemen and can play along side their style much better than Quincy, who, in comparison, has only a series and a half of experience with them.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=ArpK...p&type=lgns Apparently Shanny would rather play nowhere else. We'll I say "good riddance ya loonie" "I think that's just something you battle through," Avery said. "Those (excuses) are for guys like Sidney and guys that have to keep themselves in the media, saying they weren't hurt or they were hurt. I love when guys are done and say they were hurt or they had the flu. Haha Crosby

It'll take more than that to get a 45 year old out of our lineup
-
If he plays, I think I heard it would be in the final round, so probably 2 more weeks

He'll get an A within the next 5 years. Hes a great, great player, and Holland said he wants the future wings to revolve around Dats and Zetterberg. As for his "language barrier", he's been in America for a good 5 or so years and has already learned a great deal of English, and hes only going to learn more in the next 7 years. In addition to that, when you spend any amount of extended time with someone who speaks with a heavy accent, it becomes easier to understand them. I have firsthand experience with this, as I actually work with a Russian who knows just enough English to get by. At first I couldn't understand a single sentence, but after working with him for a while, understanding him has become second-nature. The only thing I can think of that may keep him from getting an A is the fact that he comes on as a quiet guy though the media. Who knows, maybe he really is quiet in the locker room, maybe he isn't, but Yzerman was also a quiet guy, and he was the best leader this team has ever seen.

That is a pretty hefty statement

I personally don't think Giguere is that outstanding of a goalie. Hes a solid no.1, no more no less. I think he owes a lot of his good stats to his outstanding defense, who, for the most part, keep shots to the outside and apply good pressure. Giguere just swallows everything up from the perimeter.
