I'm not necessarily looking for him to score goals with Nestrasil or Helm. I just want him to be a difference maker and contribute. Nestrasil has had no problems, and neither has Helm. Neither has Miller, Glendening, or Andersson, for that matter. Weiss's line mates have only so much influence on how he plays. At some point he's going to have to step up and get involved. -

I mean, Weiss hasn't looked good out there. And on one hand you want the guy to get some ice time to get more comfortable and work off the rust, but on the other hand, this is a 0-0 game and you want to come out of this one with points. The past two seasons the playoff race came right down to the wire, and it would be a shame to lose out on the postseason because you left points on the table back in October. Either way its a tough call, and I can understand both sides. -

I agree that he needs in-game experience to get back up to speed, and not one game every couple weeks or so. -

Weiss looks very similar to how he looked in the preseason: better hustle than last year, more able to get involved in the play, but not at all in synch with the team or the flow of the game. I've said this before, but I think its going to take a while before we see him looking more comfortable out there. -

He has a lot of poise, period. He is quite patient with the puck, and isn't afraid to hold onto it and fight off pressure with his back, or use his legs to get out of trouble instead of rush a play. -

I was actually thinking that he's been more impressive than I was anticipating before the season began. Specifically, he's been hounding down pucks and protecting them well. -

Where is all this Franzen sucks talk coming from? He's been engaged, making plays, protecting the puck, and taking the puck to the net, which is everything LGW ******* that he doesn't do enough. Or does the one turnover where the puck bounced over his stick and subsequent penalty cancel all that out?

Judging by your response, and apparent desire to completely ignore any extenuating circumstances with regard to the examples you provided, yes, I'd agree that you're terribly confused. Anyway, if you're really insisting on relying on this as your defense, it makes playing Dan Cleary in your top six even more of a smart idea on your part.

I'm suggesting that Zetterberg and Franzen have both proven themselves to be unreliable in the shootout. Sure we can look back four years ago when Z occasionally put one in, and if you take value in what he did four years ago then by all means put him into your shootout rotation. You could play Cleary in the top six, too, because, you know, he was pretty good four years ago.
