What the heck is series A?
-
As a poor student I'm living entirely off loans and can't partake, but I really appreciate you guys doing this. This is an awesome gesture and I'm glad that folks are willing to help out those who could use it.

The Lightning have been my second team since Yzerman took over. Now that the Wings are in the same conference it's a bit tougher to cheer for them, but if the Wings can't win then I'm rooting for the Bolts.

In Crosby's defense, a lot of those clips were from earlier in his career when his maturity level was low. More recently, his diving and whining have really toned down. He still does that stuff from time to time, but I think at this point in his career, Crosby isn't any worse than many other hockey players in the league. Having said that, I'm really looking forward to watching the Wings (read: Glendening) get under his skin, should we meet in the playoffs.

It baffles me that Babcock has not won this award yet.

If only they had a sponsor to donate for penalty minutes

After the injury fiasco this year I fully agree. Also Holland needs to look after his assets. He traded quite a bit to get Legwand. It would behoove him to retain the services he paid so dearly for.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/04/red_wings_stephen_weiss_not_ex.html As already mentioned, Weiss is assumed to be done for the season. It's a crappy situation, but it might be for the best, so he can take it slow and steady with rehab, rest up, and come prepared with a clean slate next Fall. Zetterberg is scheduled to lace up the skates next week, and could be ready to play as early as midway through the first round, although it's based on where the doctors are comfortable clearing him. I'm personally not going to expect to see him until round two, if they make it that far. Ericsson doesn't sound like he will be available for round 1.

Riley Sheahan - Underappreciated and Overshadowed?
Echolalia replied to Prashanth Iyer's topic in General
The biggest thing Sheahan has going for him is his size (pun definitely intended). He can protect the puck pretty well already, and as he continues to adapt, Sheahan is going to be a beast in the greasy areas. -
I'm somehow more worried about losing to Buffalo than when the Wings played the Bruins...

I stand corrected! Thanks gang.

Babs is such an intimidating guy

Washington can win out and earn 93 points. Toronto, New Jersey, and Ottawa can win out and each earn 92 points. Toronto would have the most regulation wins of those three with 42, Ottawa would have 39 and New Jersey would have 38. Carolina can end the season with as much as 89 points, the Islanders can earn 84. Everyone else is mathematically eliminated. Presently the Wings are at 84 points with seven games (14 potential points) remaining. If Washington wins out they will have 40 regulation/OT wins, which means that 4 regulation wins and a single OT loss from the Red Wings won't cut it to guarantee a spot just yet, because the Capitals would still have the upper hand due to more regulation/OT wins. So as of midnight on April 2 it looks like the magic number is 10 points, in any combination of Wings victories or points that Washington leaves on the table.

If the Wings play the Pens in the playoffs, I want Glendening to do whatever he's been doing to Crosby. Every. Single. Game.
-
Assuming dats and z return (which is still a big if IMO) I would like to see; Nyqvist Datsyuk Franzen Alfredsson Legwand Zetterberg Jurco Sheahan Tatar Abdelkader Glendening Helm
-
The Leafs are riding a serious losing streak; the Wings are playing a team in direct competition with them for a playoff spot; the Wings are playing a team they are entirely capable of defeating. This one has loss written all over it
-
I'm on Avery's side here, although the name calling is childish.
-
I wanna see Pavs on a line with Nyqvist so he has someone to dish the puck to, assuming he comes back soon.
-
Hmm everyone is starting to get healthy at the same time all of a sudden. I wonder if Babs had a stern talk with the team docs...

Lol @ if you owned a bar, how cheap would your shots be? I'm dying over here Send help

This is hilarious! Did he respond to any of these?

Wow one out of three games that the Wings have been leading going into the final period they've ended up losing. I didn't realize it was that substantial.
-
I think the Wings' best defense has been when the puck isn't in their own zone. Consequently I'm not all that surprised when they grab a lead and then trap and collapse into their own zone, that the opposition scores. I know it goes against conventional wisdom, but I would like to see a heavier forecheck in the third and try to keep the puck 200 feet away from Jimmy. I get that harder forechecking can lead to odd man rushes, especially toward the end of the game when the losing team is taking risks to get a goal, but the Red Wings, based on their current make up and point in development, don't have the tools to withstand another team when they're hemmed into their own zone and the pressure is on. That much has been made apparent. Let's see if we can relieve the defensive zone stress by increasing the offensive zone pressure. The worst thing that can happen is the other team scores, and we're back to where we started.

I don't think he actually did much harm to the Wings, but Pulkkinen scared me when he had the puck. There were a few times when he had the puck and he second-guessed his decision and it could have ended up badly had someone decided to pressure. I know Ferraro made the bone head play which lead to a breakaway, but I honestly think that Ferraro is more NHL ready than Pulkkinen is at the moment, based on what I've seen from them. But that's just my opinion.

I'm honestly pretty concerned that Datsyuk is done for the season. His knee has been bad since December and he has played what, 5 games for the Wings in that time? I don't think three weeks will fix his problem, but lets hope I'm mistaken and Datsyuk can suit up for a run.
