I'll take it. He's really stepped up when we've needed it most. 4.25 is appropriate for both sides.

All my Slow's BBQ experiences have been exquisite. I would highly recommend that place, but you'll likely have to wait to get seated. There are a lot of delicious places in Detroit, depending in how much you're willing to spend

I've seen the same thing. Lucky for Gus, being a good goalie doesn't always mean sound fundamentals, and when Gustavson gets lost, the puck is still finding ways to hit him or a nearby Red Wing. Unfortunately Jimmy hasn't been so lucky.

Seriously I'd pick Cleary, as much as I want to vomit saying that. Its not that I doubt Fedorov's skill set or his hockey IQ. I'm more worried whether he's physically able to play in the NHL. It's been a couple seasons since he's played in the KHL, and more than a couple since the NHL. He's also a couple weeks away from being 44. I don't care how skilled you are, when you're that age and haven't played in a while, its tough to get the body up to form. I see this 2 year contract and all I can think is Sammy, where in the 1st year he spends the entire season injured, and the second year (now age 45) if he's miraculously not injured, he's not effective enough to warrant being on the team. This year Cleary has been abysmal at generating and capitalizing on chances, but he's still a +1, so at the very least he neutralizes the game for both teams on the ice. Its also a 1 year contract which means next year I'll have the cap-space for someone else entirely.

I agree there isn't much fun in Windsor. Its where all the 18 year old Michigan kids go to party, unless you're into that scene.

Most folks will agree with your assessment of tonight's game, but its all about baby steps. The W against Carolina was a huge monkey of the team's back, and to follow that up with a loss to Ottawa was demoralizing. The win tonight was about regaining confidence. It was ugly, but they did what they had to do. Now the Wings are coming off of two wins in their past three games, with two days off to prepare for Boston. The team is trending up.

I think the injury took him back a couple steps. He hasn't seemed too eager to get involved and take the initiative like I want to see. He was doing a lot of that in the games leading up to his injury, and hopefully it's just a matter of getting the body back into game form.Edit I mean Weiss, if that wasn't clear

We may be bad, but we're not Buffalo Bad!

Nothing came of it, but Smith just had a great shift
-
Cleary Weiss Sammy... Contain the pain? Actually it might work out. One of those three HAS to step up now or they're really gonna get lit up. I don't expect any goals, but I'm hoping Weiss steps his game up and keeps that line afloat.

I think a reliable goal scorer for the top 6 would solve a lot of problems

This is going to be a long one, but the Cock comes out ahead!

Weiss Datsyuk Bertuzzi Franzen Zetterberg Alfredson Nyqvist Helm Tatar Abdelkader Anderson Miller Kronwall Dekeyser Ericsson Smith Kindl Quincey Like those above me, I want to see whether Weiss can establish himself playing with Datsyuk. I decided to leave Bert on Datsyuk's wing also, mostly because I think its the only place he can actually contribute. I also like that both of the top two lines has a big body in Bert and Franzen. Nyqvist being on the third line might put a lot of folks off, but just LOOK at that third line. That line is chaos, pure and simple! I would LOVE to see what they could do against some other team's third liners. Abby I think deserves to be higher than the 4th line, but I don't know if I could justify him anywhere else over someone else. Maybe replacing Bert on the top line if he isn't producing. Defensively, I want Smith to play with Ericsson. Smith needs a partner who can cover for him while he learns to incorporate HIS game into Babcock's system. Quincey can't provide that. I think Ericsson can. I also think its time to give Ericsson more of a leadership role on defense, and Smith would be a good apprentice to start off with. If and when Weiss gets going, this team is really going to have some options. I think all of the lines suggested in the past few days have serious potential, and I'm looking forward to Babs working it all out on the ice.

The Wings are too young
-
I dunno dude, they got this guy Danne Clearstrom the coach and GM just love.
-
Welp in 1 game Nyqvist was able to score twice as many goals as Cleary has all season. It was nice that Babs put Cleary on a line with Datsyuk for this night too, to show the Wings organization exactly what Cleary can do on (or to) a top line, while also showcasing what Nyqvist can do in the top 6. Your move Holland.

Hahaha

Cleary doesn't get sick.

Don't base your arguments on what would be if the Wings belonged to the Western Conference. We aren't there anymore and there's no point in speculating. The reality is yes we've lost the past 8 and I'm not going to lie and say that's good, but at the same token, there are only two games in November that the Wings haven't earned at least a point in, so as far as 8 game losing streaks go, its about as mild as it can get. It also happened to occur during a time when Franzen was injured, Alfy was injured, Ericsson was injured, Smith was injured and Weiss was injured each at some point. Again, the Wings are still comfortably holding onto a playoff spot, and anything can happen in the postseason.
-
Hasn't Cleary been filling in holes on the bottom 6 most of the past month or so?
-
I haven't looked myself, but they keep mentioning during games that the Wings are currently in better position than they were a year ago (not to mention we are in a much more forgiving Conference this year). PS The Wings are 5th in the Conference right now, only 4 points behind 1st place Boston. The reality is not nearly as bleak as LGW often makes it out to be.

Its been a while since I've posted in the GDT before the game started, and incidentally, its been a while since the Wings won. Tonight, Detroit comes out on top, 4-1 I have been wanting to see this for years. Except as our third line. Seriously, this team once it gets the kinks sorted out has the potential to be absolutely lethal. Zetterberg Datsyuk Bertuzzi Alfredsson Weiss Franzen Nyqvist Helm Tatar Abdelkader Anderson Miller (or Sammy, or Clearly) Kronwall Dekeyser Ericsson Smith Kindl Quincey Once Weiss gets going that is going to open up a lot of options for us. I also think Smith and Ericsson should be together.
-
So who thinks he only plays one game and gets sent back down
-
Somehow they're still better than Buffalo's jerseys over the years. But really, I love this idea!

He said that in response to Tomas Jurco possibly being called up, and yes if Jurco comes up to the NHL tomorrow, he will certainly be a boy among men.
