Just before I discuss Wimbledon, Andre Agassi has announced that he will retire later this year:

Andre Agassi will retire after this year's U.S. Open, leaving tennis after two decades during which he collected a career Grand Slam. The 36-year-old American announced his plans Saturday during a news conference at the All England Club, where Wimbledon starts Monday and he is seeded 25th.

"It's been a long road this year for me, and for a lot of reasons. It's great to be here. This Wimbledon will be my last, and the U.S. Open will be my last tournament."

He intends to play in four hard-court events in the United States between Wimbledon and the Open, in what will amount to a farewell tour for one of the most popular and successful tennis players in history.

Agassi has won eight major singles titles - one each at Wimbledon and the French Open, two at the U.S. Open and four at the Australian Open - and is one of only five men to have collected at least one championship at each of the Grand Slam tournaments.

Have to say that he has been one of my favourite players, just a true gentleman and one of the most talented players I have ever seen. Will be sad to see him depart as I was looking forward to seeing him at the Australian Open next year. It’s good that he’ll be able to finish at his home Slam though. Well done on a great career Andre!

Well arguably the most prestigious Tennis tournament of the year is only a few days away. The Championships commence Monday and I'm expecting big things this year. Lleyton Hewitt is in terrific form after winning his 4th Queens title, and has escaped Federer in his half of the draw. I think he could go all the way again this year.

Sharapova has a good draw and if she’s recovered from her ankle injury she could be victorious.

I am sad to see Agassi go, but I think it's time. He's really had some fights with injuries the past couple of years. He has accomplished so much already and with having a family now, it seems to be about time. He was one I grew up watching, the Sampras and Agassi rivalry was huge when I was younger and tennis was my life. I loved watching him; he always provided an exciting match. He'll be missed.

In regards to Wimbledon, I'm excited because it's my fav slam and I should be able to see a good portion of it. I watched a few matches today, mostly the Agassi match, and I don't think he'll get too far in the draw this year. He did become better as the match went on, and he will definately need to get better with each match to keep going.

I saw a bit of the Nadal, Federer, Henman and Blake matches. Blake has been my fav player since he was still just playing in college, so I hope he does well here. I don't really expect Henman to give Federer too much of a challenge in the next round.

Didn't see any women's. I'd love to see Hingis in the final though.

Anyone watching right now? Roddick is in action, but looking mighty shaky.

Hewitt won in under 70 minutes, he's looking very good and thankfully is in a good section of the draw.

I'm at work and couldn't watch, but I saw online that he pulled it out. The scores looked a little bit too close for comfort though. I want to see some Americans do well this slam, dang it!!

So Agassi has played his last match at Wimbledon after losing to Nadal in straight sets. He should’ve won the first set as he was up 5-2 in the tiebreak, but as soon as he lost that set it was all too easy for Nadal.

Aussie - you're making me sad with your Agassi eulogy. :(

I pretty much expected retirement soon anyhow - but boy will I miss watching him play - someone I always wholeheartedly cheered for. Not many Americans on the circuit these days. I have become attached to Roddick and believe he has the stuff to be a multi-slam winner, but he seems to keep underachieving? I hope he has an Agassi-like comeback one of these days.

Anyhow, I'll get to see a fair number of these matches in the mornings

Women's, I'll pull for Sharapova to reach the finals. The Williams sisters disappoint me with their lack of dedication to training, etc. They have the stuff to smoke everyone, but not the will anymore.

Sadly, the tennis tour in general is not too exciting these days - here's hoping for some new & vibrant faces soon.

So the man everyone thought would give Federer a challenge, No.7 seed Mario Ancic, was destroyed in straight sets by who else, Roger Federer. Getting mighty predictable.

And it looks as though Hewitt is going to be defeated by Baghdatis. :(

I was away from electricity the whole weekend so I didn't get to see/hear any news. All I wanted was for some Americans to do well, but it doesn't look like that happened. Here's my predictions now from what's left.

Federer over Bjorkman in the semis. Bjorkman had a long, tough match today, so I don't think he'll be up to the challenge of Federer.

Bahgdatis over Nadal (I'm assuming he'll win his quarterfinal). I just had to go for some kind of upset.

Federer over Bahgdatis in the final. Because, well, it's Federer. That kid is practically unstoppable.

For the ladies, I'm gonna go with Mauresmo vs. Henin in the finals with Henin taking it all.

You had to go ahead and jinx the ladie's side, didn't you? ;)

I was thinking about going into the mountains this weekend - now I'm definite - I can't stomach a Henin-Mauresmo match - can both of them lose? <_<

I'll also congratulate Federer prematurely.......

I really enjoyed the women's final. They played pretty evenly, there were some great points, and I was happy with the result. (I won't give it away in case you all haven't seen it).

Well, we predicted Nadal vs. Federer for the finals. I'm hoping Nadal takes it, just cuz Federer has won it so many times in a row.

I'm watching the mens doubles right now. Bryan and Bryan are still just so impressive!
