Why Boston? Wanted to stay in East. "Connections". A million and a half apart. Heart set on going to Boston. New Jersey? (Never seen it in his blogs)/NYR made big push. Not shocked at how much Chara was given. Boston doesn't have lots of cap money. New GM. New Coach. Had to do something dramatic. 5.1 million a year offer for Shanahan. - Says Anson Carter is more interested than Leafs than vice versa.. Nucks unloaded 3 million of salary, could be back in for offering money to him. Flyers made a push/Ottawa too.. 3 million dollars too much for them. Might be more 'valuable' in Vancouver than anywhere else. Thinks he will stay in Vancouver. - Thinks Mike Peca and Ottawa is a good possibility.. (Once again Never seen this in his blog). NYI still in running too. Satan and Peca's wives best friends or something. - Guys are picking places based on where they really want to be. - Thinks Ottawa picking up Gerber is a huge addition. Detroit thought they had him.. Eklund says Gerber thinks Ottawa has a better chance to win the Cup than Detroit. - Peca would give 1000% if he comes to Ottawa. Hasek offering up his services for 500,000. Said not gonna play for anyone but the Senators.. Belfour in Detroit getting a physical.. Red Wings definitely need a goalie. - Eklund thinks Legace is a backup.. and Vancouver needs a backup. As far as his track record with the Predators. He reported Kariya the day before it happened when no one had even dreamed up the possiblity that he was on our wish list. At the time all the talk was Eric Lindros because the Preds had lots of wingers and needed a big center. Next day... Paul Kariya signs with Nashville. Don't tell me you heard about it before it happened either, because you didn't. Eklund did. And this season. He's been saying that Arnott was headed to Nashville for the past 2-3 weeks when everyone else was saying that Arnott wasn't going to be an option for us, poile was going to play the wait and see game. Then, sunday rolls around and Arnott is a Predator. I keep on top of most trade rumors, and especially when it comes to the Preds and no one had those before Eklund. But newspaper, television and other news reporting sites like TSN have certain standards like two sources, and they don't report anything until it's official. Whereas Eklund reports everything that comes down the pipe. I bet that if TSN reported every rumor that they ever got, people would call them the biggest joke in sports media. As for what he said on radio today, I think some of us who know a little about the players & team needs could have said the nonsense he "reported".
