Insider Report

It's been busy, but the ITC team is working work to bring you the most accurate information in the NHL today. Here's a sample.

The Rangers are still in talks with the Hawks. The Hawks would really like to land Montoya, but at the same time they aren't willing

to make a deal if Prucha isn't included in the package. This deal is also said to have more players in it besides the one's I named

in my other reports on this subject.

The Wings also made a call to the Rangers about two players. Those players being Montoya and Rozsival. The Red Wings are interested in bringing in Rozsival if Jonsson doesn't sign with them. The Wings have also been talking to the Habs about Lang, but there's been a hold up in the talks because another team has jumped in. I don't know who the team is as of the moment, but the Wings are talking to them. Probably trying to see if they can get more for Lang. The Wings also wouldn't mind grabbing Montoya. They wanted to drafted him in his draft year, but couldn't move up to grab him. From what I gather on the Rangers side, they won't trade Montoya unless they get a great package in return. The Wings are also still one of the teams in the bidding for Carter, but they won't pay him what he's asking for, which is 3 per season.

getting montoya makes no sense at this point. just adding another log to the jam as far as our young, up and coming goalies.

I agree with the captain. It's like every single goalie that is available is rumored to be going to Detroit. I'll bet that this is just a ploy by Holland to make us seem less desperate for a goalie so as to drive down the price of one we really want.

The code guys about as reputable as Eklund. According to him Belfours been signed twice, we were already talking to the rangers for weeks and we already have signed a few other free agents we dont know about.

I agree the Code is a waste of a rumor site. They're never right. None of those rumors involving the Wings make any sense.

"A team" is interested in ______ isn't really a tip. It's barely even a rumor.

Am I the only one who thinks Howard is a typical average goalie? Everyone around here treats him like he's the second coming of Sawchuck to be praised like a sacred buddha. I think he's deffinately the Wings next big disappointment.

Hey, if Howard doesnt turn out to be what he is expected to, we've got Liv. and if howard is sweet, im sure we can get some goods for Liv in a few years...but for now i say bring in Biron and Afinogenov packaged. :beerbuddy:

Jimmy has put up big numbers in both college hockey and the AHL. What more can he possibly do before he makes it to the NHL that would impress you?

Anyways, as much as I don't think we need Montoya at all, the rumour might be legit. Keep in mind that one of the reasons we traded our first round pick to Phoenix was because Leland Irving (a goaltender) was taken. We then proceeded to draft Daniel Larsson in the third round. For whatever reason, it appears as if the Wings want more quality goalie prospects in their system.

If the Wings are even thinking of acquiring Montoya, they are likely doing so to package him in a deal. The Rangers want to move him because they have Lundqvist and because Montoya's shoulder injury is rumoured to be bad.

The one pure untouchable prospect in the organization is Jimmy Howard whose record at every level speaks for his talent. He's not going anywhere.

Jimmy Howard isn't going any where but i would love to see us get rid of Lang i think he is the down fall of the wings right now, all he is good at is being in the right place at the right time, i have never seen him skate hard.
