By the time Ken figures this out there will be no one left worth getting witch means another cory chross type pick up. That will turn into another bad year in the playoffs. As for the whole Betuzzi/Foresberg coming our way, and the Wings parting with Lang.........I just don't see it happening. No matter where he goes in a trade will resign with Philly next year - YES! So, if the wings want to give up a first round pick then yes trade for him. Knowing previous moves by Kenny i could see us picking up a defensive centreman, or an offensive defenceman. I would like to see any of the following guys come this way. - Bill Guerin - Keith Tkachuk - Ruslan Fedotenko - Marco Sturm - Todd Fedoruk - George Laraque (not likely) - Shane Doan (not likely) - Fredrik Modin (not likely) After last night's game, it is so glaring this team has ZERO toughness Kenny has to realize we are in a direct line for a golf tourney in April. I just can't believe recently both Hasek and Joey Mac were run and noone on the Wings even looked in the direction of the guy that ran them. The Stuart crosscheck on Zetta and the Conroy run on Dats also come to mind. The turtle is the only guy barely standing up for any of his teammates, and hes almost as bad at that as he is on defence. Very well said. I'm sick of our top players getting run over like that and nobody doing anything about it, time and time again. Opponents are gonna take full advantage of that come playoff time. Hope that i'm wrong on this one. If the last few games haven't screamed to Holland that we need some secondary scoring I don't know what will. If the top line isn't scoring, we aren't winning. We're a 1 trick pony at this point. The 2nd line, and even the 3rd line to a degree, need a scoring winger. Forget Forsberg. Go get Guerin and even Sanderson. So do Dats and Homer, and others, on a regular basis. I agree that we need to add a player who will fight, though I don't exactly know how that point figures into what I said before. I realize we don't have any players regarded as "tough" but you'd think if this was another team, even the little guys would take exception a lot more often. I agree we have a great team right now, but when room on the ice is at a minimum as it is in the playoffs. Do we have guys that are gonna battle for the puck? Edmonton exposed are weakness badly last year and we need to address that before the playoffs. If the top line isn't scoring then who do we have that's gonna go in the corners and battle for the puck and get thsoe hard to get badly needed goals. Lang? Maybe... Cleary? Maybe... Franzen? Maybe....Hudler? Of course ... but after that we are so thin. We have a good team now, but hardly a team that will go any deeper than last year. I mean, he's a huge talent and is strong on the puck, but he does nothing to prevent guys like Dats and Zetts from getting run over all the time. In fact, he will just be another target. The only way I like it is if we bring in a guy who will scrap also. Doesn't have to be a heavyweight, just someone to do SOMETHING when goalies, star players, etc get run over or questionably hit. I think this team can compete with the heavy hitters as far as physicality (Markov, Chelios, Schneids, Kronwall, Franzen, etc), but matching teams in toughness usually leads to a few scraps along the way, and that's where we're lacking. Nobody wants to be the guy to have to fight. One guy that can hold his own against most of the league would go a long way towards bringing these big hitters we have out of their hiding places when we need them the most. So Forsberg + LaPointe, or even [insert power forward] + Lapointe is what I really would want. BTW, this is money issues aside of course! esteef Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
