I'm not trying to prove my points, or rub anything in. I respect everyone's opinions and enjoy the debate, but since we are talking about Lapointe, I found something interesting from mlive.

They mention all the available players at the deadline, and in the Lapointe section it says Yzerman has been interested in bringing him back.

Well, what it says is this:

"He'd love to come back and team vice president Steve Yzerman has encouraged the front office in the past to explore the possibility."

I may be misinterpreting it, but 'in the past' seems to imply when he was still a player; this may have been some odd years ago.

Well, let's look through that list and compare:

Guerin $2m, rental

Roberts $2.25m, rental

Gelinas $.975m, rental

Nolan $1.2m, rental

Or:

Lapointe, $2.4m, contract

I'd say that's pretty cut and dry.
