Chicago Blackhawks...and fans?

I went a few years ago to the United Center when the blackhawks were respectable. There still were a bunch of Wings fans.

The Blackhawks were respectable? :hehe:

I'm waiting for the Hawks' fans own "Millen man march"

Or have them start singing the National Anthem or the Chicago Bears Fight Song.

Bear Down, Chicago Bears.

Make every play clear the way to victory!

Bear Down, Chicago Bears.

Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly!

We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation,

With your T formation.

Bear Down, Chicago Bears.

And let them know why you're wearing the crown.

You're the pride and joy,

of Illinois.

Chicago Bears, Bear Down!

*sniff* i still get teary when that gets played...much like one of those songs that we know and love from 1997...lol

I'm so glad that I was too young to pay the Wings of the '80s and early '90s much attention. It's just been straight up goodness since '94 on.

The 80s and early 90s weren't that bad. We had Yzerman in his prime, some quality characters like Kocur, Probert and Snepsts, made the playoffs more often than not, and even made it to the Conference Finals a few times. It was fun hockey.

Now the 70s, that was a miserable time to be a Wings fan.

Question here for anyone who knows. Does anyone remember how the attendance was when the Blackhawks made the playoffs in the 2001-2002 season? They got knocked out early, but had a pretty good season and still made the playoffs. Does anyone remember if they were very popular that season or not?

Per ESPN, Chicago averaged 15,568 per game in 2001-2002. That was 23rd in the NHL. This year they are averaging 13,218 per game, 29th in the NHL. I was living in Chicago at the time. There was definitely a buzz about that team but I wouldn't say they were wildly popular.

Most of the Blackhawk fans I know have gone underground. They packed away their jerseys, gave up their season tickets, and publicly denounce the team but they secretly sneak down to the basement and listen to the games on the radio. They'll be back in full force when a) Wirtz sells the team or b) Wirtz dies.

They're back! lol (Dug up this old gem)
