Winged Scooter 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 I refuse to acknowledge the award since it should be named after the man that holds the record of longest captaincy with a single team!
arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 I refuse to acknowledge the award since it should be named after the man that holds the record of longest captaincy with a single team! I tend to kinda agree, but look at it this way. Wayne doesn't have an award named after him yet. (not that I am aware of anyway) I'm sure in time, Steve and Wayne will have that honour too. Perhaps Steve's will be the year ending leadership award, and Gretzky's the lifetime achievment award.

North Guy 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 Get over it. Steve Yzerman is a class guy and a great leader, but Messier would always be known as the greatest leader in hockey.
Zetter is Better 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2007 no no no u have it all wrong Steve Yzerman was the only real captain in my eyes of all of The NHL. and he kept with his team for more than 20 years and i didnt see messier do that. dont get me wrong Messier is a good guy and every thing but Stevie deserves an award more than Messier. Yup, he is one of the few to show his loyalty. I think it should go to the only man to captain two different teams to a Stanley Cup. Jeez, get over it. Your name sucks! Zetterberg practicaly has more goals in the past 11 games than Ruutu does this season And the Hawks suck.
