datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 why do you guys think the wings have such trouble in ot? do they just lose focus after the 60 minutes? they just always seem to look pretty unorganized out there in ot. i'm not sure of their record. i think they've won 3. so they're 3 and 9 in ot. anway, what do you guys think? arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 Definatley something we will have to work on before the playoffs. I mean, i know we have had a healthy line up for sometime, but I'm sure when our full roster is back, plus our new additions it will make a difference. Come playoff hockey, OT hockey is as good as it gets, and I dont always wanna be on the lossing end.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 I have no idea why the Wings have so much trouble in OT, but I've realized that anytime they are in OT you can bet that more than half the time they'll be in their own zone trying to clear the puck out as the opposing team is generating scoring chances. OR for the little time that the Wings are in possession of the puck, it's the second that they reach the blue line in which they give it up and cause a 2 on 1 or breakaway for us to lose the game. It's like once OT starts they are totally lost out there. I think come playoff time it'll change.

But at least the wings keep on getting that single point, though the 2 would be better
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 I am slightly alarmed, because with those points we could easily be first in the conference. But in the playoffs they play 5 v 5. And the playoffs are really though only thing that matters. Wasn't Dallas unbelievable in OT last year and look where that got them.

royedwards 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 Right, I think the Wings will do better when it's 5 on 5, and a turnover at the blue line doesn't sink them automatically. Regular season OT is exciting, but it's basically a skills exhibition, only slightly better than the SO.
GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 Wings are a puck control pass around team. With 4 on 4 theres one less option for a pass.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 OT: You know, I really don't know why they're bad in regular OT. Maybe it's the lack of the extra pass, I don't know. They are a puck control team, so maybe it does make a difference. Shootout: Hasek is, yes I'm saying this, bad on breakaways. He likes to flop, and that just doesn't work on a shootout. The other problem comes the lack of production of the shooters. Since Williams was always thrown in there, that's one wasted shot. Zetterberg has not impressed me on shootouts this year either, except for the Kent Nilsson move he did against Colorado, and that was only one time. Datsyuk confindens me the most though. For a guy that is so good on breakaways during the game, he is terrible in shootouts. When he went against Edmonton, he missed the net! Makes me question his wanting for 7 million even more (yeah, I'm never going to let this go). So yeah, that's my view on it. I don't know if it's really the case, but that's the way the way I look at it.
silkyjohnson13 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 Our forwards seems to be scared to attack offensively, and just play a real laid back "don't make a mistake" style of game in the reg season OT. But like said before, playoff OT is a totally different style so i'm not to worried about it. Is there anything better in sports than playoff OT?
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted March 5, 2007 Well, last in yesterday's game there really is no mystery as to what happened. Schneider was stupid.
