I want Dats to re-sign, but at this point $6.85 is too high......especially with Lids making $7.8 (which by the way, he deserves every penny of). I would be more than willing to sign Dats long term for $5 mil, and even $5.5-$5.9 if he performs stongly in the playoffs since the cap is rumored to be around $47-$48 mil.

Edit: Spelling

I agree. I'd give Dats a 4 year, $30 million contract. The full $30 million would come through regular season/playoff performance incentive. Base salary would be between $5 million in year 1 to $6.5 million in year 4.

Agree? Disagree?

we can throw numbers around all week. Even if (on one cold day down below :P ), All LGW posters agree on a number for Datsyuk salary, it still won't matter none. His salary will be determined by 30 NHL GMs when the UFA market opens on July 1st. If Holland wants to avoid bidding on he open market, he would need to offer Datsyuk something attractive to Pavel. Not what we fans might think fair or deserved ot ridiculous or whatever. Live with it.

I don't understand how things go between people here and the duo of Spectors and Eklund:

I'll go over the average progression (with some posters)

Eklund/Spectors rumor type 1: Somebody GOOD is rumored to be coming to the Wings!!!

LGW Poster: Oh, that's just BS.. they're never right.

Eklund/Spectors rumor type 2: Somebody GOOD is going to a Red Wings rival/a Red Wings player is demanding an enormous contract!

LGW Poster: Uh oh, we're in trouble.

................the point? They're always wrong. Both ways.

Comparing Eklund to Lyle (Spector) is like comparing apples to oranges. They're totally opposite sides of the trade rumor spectrum. Eklund doesn't provide any sources besides himself while *all* Lyle deals with is confirmed rumblings that have been posted in various reputable media outlets.

He doesn't post what Jim-Bob's cousin's dog told him.

Agreed. Lyle at least posts things that have been mentioned around the trade blocks for a little while. Eklund just pulls random crap right out of his ass. His Pascal Leclair to Minnesota rumor is enough proof of that.

I like Spectors because what you see on there is what has been talked about over that little period of time. Anything Eklund says is either a pure lie, or something TSN or any other hockey website has already stated earlier in the day.
