lfd250 1 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 No one has said Nashville????? I'm sorry but if your team is playing the second best team for first place and you can't sell out your arena, then you have to go. Nashville Arena holds 17113 for hockey games last nights atten. 16640. Please don't get rid of Florida teams. We all plan on retireing some day and we all know by law you have to stay in Florida for the winter if you're from Michigan.
Viperar 16 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 Ok and?? Neither does Florida except for one singular year and guess who was their coach that year?? Columbus isn't going anywhere..... Phoenix has no tradition. Neither really does Minnesota in their current form. Or the Capitals for that matter. Being good once every other decade isn't exactly a tradition. Trust me, I've either lived in Columbus or around columbus for the past 10 years now, it's a good market for hockey. It isn't the fourth or fifth option after baseball, basketball and the NFL like it is in a LOT of other cities. That and the fact that there are nearly 1.5 million people within half an hour drive of the city means the franchise is there to stay. So im supposed to just go by your judgement that the nhl has a good market in CBJ, you still havent shown me a real reason florida should be eliminated over other s***ty teams like lets say Caps Phoenix CBJ they all reek of failure in my opinion, at least in florida hockey has some sense of want, especially since tampa won the stanley cup, and id say ok since ive lived in florida for about 10 years too..trust me, but youre not going to

I see it in Tampa, I don't see it for the Panthers. I see the same type of atmosphere in Columbus that I saw in Tampa. It's just that in Columbus they tried to build the team via Free Agency instead of the draft at first and they haven't recovered. Columbus isn't going anywhere. You still haven't given me a solid reason to eliminate Columbus either.

Eliminate columbus because in my opinion they are worthless, and are in an overpopulated area for hockey anyway...atleast florida opens the nhl market to other areas... have you even been to a panthers game before? They have more energy than the capitals and columbus games, and ive been to both teams. Attendance is basically the same, tradition with the rats and atleast a playoff appearance which is still more than cbj can say, and its because of the panthers that hockey has taken off in south florida, new and improved high school leagues, aka my high school is going to the state finals. The Panthers have provided incredible growth of hockey south of orlando, and in my opinion thats fantastic. Most fans in ohio just tend to support the pens, detroit or other teams around them, i have a few friends from ohio and they dont click to that team. My friends in south florida all click to the panthers. The panthers failure does not come from the players, they have talent...belfour is clicking, olli jokinen is their lead man and very good...its their management, who makes wrong decisions Edited March 30, 2007 by Viperar

I've been to quite a few hockey games in DC, as well as Philly, Pittsburgh and Columbus, along with Detroit. Columbus isn't the least energetic on that list (The Caps would be followed by Pittsburgh) and it's not that close. I'm pretty certain there are some NHL fans that would like to eliminate Detroit for the very same reason, and Montreal as well. That's hilarious. Funny I have quite a few friends in Columbus who have adopted the Blue Jackets and absolutely hate the Red Wings. It's that entire Ohio State/ Michigan thing I think. Bottom line, the CBJ aren't going anywhere, whether you like it or not. Edited March 30, 2007 by BuckeyeWingsfan80

BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 Bettman would replace them with Cincinnati, Kansas City, Birmingham, and Louisville. Exactly. If I say that Columbus is a hockey town, Cincy definitely isn't. Hell they barely support the Reds anymore and once the Bengals remember they are the Bengals, they'll stop showing up to those games as well. For some reason I get the feeling that Bettman will eventually expand the NHL into KC, but Birmingham and Louisville aren't quite backwoods enough for consideration yet

BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 neither is florida...so touchay I just like the hate for Columbus I'm sensing, so much so I can't WAIT until football season Hell it should be practically free wins for the Wings, except it isn't this year for some reason (3-3 so far).... I'll take that AND the chance to actually see a game without having to drive to Chicago or Detroit or Pittsburgh. I won't be the only one in the arena, not even close to it, and if they had any offense to speak of, at least against teams other than Detroit, they'd be relatively competitive as well. TheLegend19 1 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 Saying you HAVE to pick a Canadian team is just plain stupid. They are all strong markets. Thats like saying "Which original six team should we ditch?" or "Which of the six Wings with retired numbers sucked the most?" Which of the six retired numbers should we un-retire? I wouldn't eliminate any Canadian teams. Hockey is their national sport, afterall. I'd eliminate Nashville. That's all.
BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 yeah youi just like them cause yuo get to see the wings...cheater...im jealous that too, but it's kinda hard to get tickets for the games when the Wings are in town. I'll show up (and I did) to all of the Nashville games when they are in Columbus. Same with Dallas and Colorado That and my brother had some classes with Dan Fritsche when both of them were at Ohio State....

Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 Can i ask you why you put Vancouver there? because I don't like them. not that i really like any of the teams in canada other than maybe the habs a little. But I especially dislike Vancouver. maybe it's the uniforms or something. I did like them in the 90's when they wore the skate uniforms, had Mclean and Bure, Linden was the captain. but Bertuzzi, the sedin's, cloutier and the current uniforms (even the retros) I just never liked. and besides, getting rid of Vancouver would mean the western canada swing was only 2 games!
