C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 (edited) I would like to think your points are true...but 1. Momentum has shifted 2. Hasek is getting rattled..and thats not good..the Flames are in his head, and the whole wings team now 3. Flames are Underdogs, Wings are Under Total pressure, due to playoffs past 4. Kiprusoff has yet to steal a game for the Flames, and game 5 could be the one. 5. I just remember the Wings loss in the dome on March 20, and then the Flames went on to beat the Preds (who they have always had trouble with), and then an AFTERNOON GAME in Chicage, and 2 In Minny (breaking the Wilds 10 game winning streak.) and then the Nucks... therefore a 6 game winning streaking, starting with a win against the wIngs 6 Flames have way better specialty teams and know how to block shots from getting thru 7. Big guns for the Flames have stepped up in the last 2 games, something we didn't see in the first two games ie: Iggy, Langkow, Conroy, Lombardi, Tanguay 8. They have beaten the wings twice now without there #1 d-man in Regehr 9. Flames have played like they want it more 10. I think we will see a different Flames team tomorrow, with more confidence, now that they have beaten us twice. I really don't think that the Flames road record will play a part in tomorrows game. They are playing better than the wings now, and how many times have we seen the wings Choke in the Playoffs in the past 3 season. Sorry, I wish I could be more optimistic, but I am I am sorry but I have no faith in this team. And if the wings lose they go back to the Dome for game 6 (Crazy, crazy loud fans, which the joe doesn;t have) which is another loss and let down for the team. And then Game 7, well who knows then Sooner or later the winning in the other building is goind to change...It will be game 5....I just have this sickening feeling that it will I'd argue that Kiprusoff stole game 4 to a large extent. #5 is irrelevant, and other than #6-#8, that whole list is ridiculously subjective. And can we please quit pretending like 2003 has anything to do with this year? Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Maltby, Draper, Chelios, Schneider. There's your entire list of current Wings who were even on the team back then (coaches included), and obviously Datsyuk/Z had a combined one year in the NHL prior to that season. Also, contrary to popular belief, we did not lose in the first round in 2004. Edited April 21, 2007 by C-TownWing
w00p33 2 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 IceMunkee put it well. After the second game in the series was lost I kind of turned on my apathy defense button. But this is a home game and I care again. Honestly I think we need a dominant game. A squeaked-out win won't give us back the confidence we need. Another game like 1 or 2 could quite possibly give us the momentum to end it in 6, a close one I say 7 with no prediction of the outcome. That said, we need the best elements of all 4 games to tie in today. We need more shots, more confidence and more discipline. We need to play as 5-man groups sticking up for each other but without the over-desperate action of holding guys up with sticks instead of good skating and body position, something this team thrives on. Honestly my gripe is not enough shots ON the NET. Even with a non-rebound goalie like Kipper, shoot enough rubber his way, he will let a juicy one go and someone will be there to punch it home. With all the great shooters on this team that should be a given, but game 4 we missed a bunch of those chances. I think, beyond discipline this is the #1 key to beating this team and will remain as much for the next 2 or 3 games. All that said, home ice will help. This series strikes me as the most likely (it did even before the series started) to go 7 games, all won by the home team. I don't like it, but it makes sense. Analysts keep griping about the Flames being the most-home-ice-wins team in the league but they keep leaving out that Detroit tied for 2nd in that stat. Booster313 138 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 Thanks to all the positive energy from those of you that shared your thoughts...Those of you that feel as if we're doomed or the Calgary will win, turn off your TV's, throw away your Jersey, find another excuse to go to the bar with your friends and have a beer. The train has offically left the station and this time it's not hauling a bandwagon along for the ride. There's no room for casual fans or non-believers. It's 36mins to game time! I believe...the Wings believe...do you?

They are playing better than the wings now, and how many times have we seen the wings Choke in the Playoffs in the past 3 season. 1. I dont believe momentum plays a big role 2. Hasek isn't rattled at all, he has not been playing too bad, made a few big saves, and it is hard to save one timers 2 feet away. 3. Just because the flames are underdogs doesn't mean they have no pressure, its hte playoffs, every team is good and they all play hard regardless what seed they are. 4. Kiprusoff has been playing great, a few huge saves. Just because goalies are good doesnt mean they have to steal a game, is it something that just HAS to happen just because they are good? 5. What does that stat susposed to mean? That is the regular season, the wings won the west in the regular season, so according to you they should win the west in the playoffs? 6. Flames NEED to rely on their special teams to get past the games, 6 of 8 goals on PP. Once wings take fewer penalties/better PK then there goes a majority of the flames chances down the drain, also it is just a matter of time until the PP starts to click for us. 7. The players may have stepped up, but they have yet to prove what they can do on the road, and thats including their whole team not just the big players. 8. Shows just how good regehr really is and he also wasnt very dominant when he did play. 9. Wings have just been struggling, and despite their lack of play they have been in the game all along. Flames are good at home, but are horrible on the road so if the flames really wanted it so much they would not have gotten totally dominated at the joe. 10. I think we will see a better wings, the same as the first 2 games at home, which will run all over the flames. The flamers are horrible on the road, and from the result of the first 2 games i can't see them beating us. Those past playoff experiences were in the past, live in the present.
