Is the jury still out on Babcock?

Babcock's done a fantastic job and I have complete faith in him. I don't really think much blame for this horribly disappointing season can be placed on his shoulders.

I'm seeing a lot of these kind of comments. How was this season "Horribly disappointing"? We had a great regular season, and we went deep in the playoffs. That's more than the majority of teams can say this summer.

Regarding Babcock... I mean sheesh, they guys been here two years. Year 1: Great regular season, bad off season. Year 2: Great regular season, good off season. This guy is a very good coach, and I just don't understand people who want to throw him away after 2 seasons.

"Omg guyz Bab's had two years to win us a cup and he didn't! Fire him!!!"

I agree , I see this season as a success not a failure. At the begining of the season there where doubt's about if the Red Wings would reach the Playoff's , never mind reaching the WCF's . that too me is a HUGE success.

I can't see how this is even a question anymore.

He took an undersized skill team and changed them in a way they could compete in the postseason.

The guys Holland brought in (Calder, Bertuzzi) had little to do with the increase in grit on the team. Lilja was dropping the gloves for chrissakes.

I know we're all disappointed that they didn't beat the Ducks, especially because they didn't seem like the better team, but I can't imagine a harder road for the "soft bunch of euros" than to meet Calgary, then San Jose, then Anaheim in the playoffs.

The Wing had a lot of regular season success, but no one outside of Detroit really gave them much credit because they'd seen it before. In the playoffs they really showed something.

I didn't even know such a jury existed so early for Babcock.

He overachieved with this team when nobody was expecting the Wings to make a whole lot of noise.

He's not going anywhere anytime soon, and even if the Wings did bow out in the 1st/2nd round, he wasn't going to go anywhere.

only 4 teams make it to the WCF/ECF. and seeing how NY got bounced in 5 games i'd say the wings were the third (arguably 2nd) best team in the league this year. thats NEVER bad.

BABS rocks the casbah as i like to say. he took a club that was supposed to do NOTHING and took them deep. a few more bounces and we'd be looking at what it will take to beat OTT.

anyone who thinks dif needs to re-examine their expectations. even the superhuman YANKEES dont win the series every year. it takes more than 20 great players to win a cup. it takes heart and coaching.
