If we have the means to get this guy in the winged wheel, then I say its a must. But if we have to match a higher offer. We have to pass on him. Apparently the budget is slimmer then we all think.

If there's anyone that the wings should try to trade for, its Robyn Regehr. He does not wish to resign or play with the Flames beyond next season. He's on the last year of his contract, makes roughly $2 million.

That would be an improvement over Lilja, IMHO. This is a guy with an edge, a physical game, and he still has half the PIM's of Boynton. I haven't seen as much of Regehr as I did Boynton, but what I have seen shows me he has a good game in his own zone and can help on the O side of things a little too.

A good solid defensive defenseman. 5-6

What if we let go of Schnieder and signed Boynton and Priessing for that 5 million or maybe 5.5 or so.

Lidstrom-Lilja

Priessing-Boynton

Chelios-Lebda

Kronner

I guess that'd be overkill since we also have Quincy and maybe Meech.

Probably be better off staying out of the Boynton game I suppose. I still like his toughness though.

I think that Regehr at 2 mil as oppossed to Boynton at 2.95 would work out better for the wings, but I like how you are thinking.

I am starting to think more and more that Schnieds will do a big deal else where. Hell it worked for Timmonen, the wings will need to resign Markov and another 3-4 Dman or sign two 3-4 dmen.

I think Kronwall should be made to shadow Chelios, at his restaurant, at home, with his wife, with his kids, working out, doing whatever cheli does. He would be better off learning to play like Cheli then trying to be lids or a hitter like D hatcher.

Here are some PIM's that i'd love to see a Wings player rack up. The 1st clip is my personal Boynton Favorite

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IzvaoaWJ0w

this is sort of a bad penalty but how many of us would've loved somebody to stick up for our guys when Franzen got plastered or Cleary or Williams got drilled and went down or when Lebda got flattened like 10 times.

and yet another example of Boynton stepping up when one of his teammates is getting bullied around

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWj4qd80KKA

and another, reminiscent of the Mitchell hit on Franzen where people were crying for a Wing to do something.

and again coming to a teammates aid....damn i hate guys who stick up for their mates

solid hit by Boynton

and just to be impartial here's boynton losing a fight

yeah, Boynton doesn't fight much at all. Come to think of it he fights so very little he'd fit right in on the Wings (sarcasm anyone)

Regehr over Boynton or Lilja is a no brainer. Regerh is huge, plays super hard and is very solid on D. I think he's going to get over 2 mil though when he's UFA. There'll be 29 teams that want to sign him.

First off and foremost, I never saw him fight like that for the B's!!

Alright so the first clip was the only fight that he didn't try to tackle the guy after throwing two punches, the fight against beau... hell the guy from Anaheim, he tried to tackle him and he failed. I also don't think that the last fight is the only one he didn't win, most of the others were barely fights and broken up by the refs. He looked like the guy from Dazed and Confused who thinks the fight will only go one punch and then it will get broken up. Only difference is when the refs don't step in he goes for the tackle.

I am all for finding a guy who can stand up for his teammates, but at what cost, 2.95 for a guy who can hit and fight, hell lets throw 2.5 at Worrell and see if that works out for the wings.

The wings need a guy who can score and make plays first, fight second, that is just how the team plays. No way Holland wastes a spot on the roster for a fighter.

I am not saying he is not a good player or that he won't help some team, however at that price tag and what he brings to the table I would rather have Lilja.

You can not compare what he would do for a team like Pheonix to what he would do for a team like Detroit. I think we all would agree that Detroit plays a much different game then most of the league.

I highly doubt that you will see a guy on this team with 80+ PIM's for a long time, unless the refs keep changing their minds on what is and is not a penalty.

And I think Detroit proved this year they are not soft, they did not break against Calgary who was dirty, cheap, and very physical, they didn't break against a team like San Jose who was very physical and tried to beat the piss out of the wings. And I don't think it was Anaheim's physical play that beat them as much as a combo of Giggy and the ineffectiveness of the pp.

It is my opinion that he would not be a good fit on this team, it is yours he would. Seeing as the thread is about opinion, I am not asking you to change yours, just stating mine!

Yeah Eklund must've heard the interview by calgary's TV announcer, who says regehr is looking to leave calgary next yr.

This topic is also on HFboards, which elaborates more on the interview and everything else the announcer said.

cool thanks for that , dont know if i can believe it though , sometimes things get way exagerated .......... i still find it hard to believe they would trade him , and that they would trade him to the wings , it would have to be a 3 way deal , it would be really great if he was here and to play with nick and chelios and eventually be one of the main guys when there gone

What do you think he would get on the free market ? if he was traded to us do you think he would resign for a 5 yr 3.5 to 4 mill per ?? or you think if he went on the free agent market he would get more ?

Who do you think we'd have to give up to get him ?? And dont involve kronwall cause hes not going anywhere :P ill get laughed at again but i dont care ...........

i think if we threw in lilja who is making 1 million would fit in nicely for them especially considering they might be going after smyth , maybe jiri hudler who wouldnt be making much and could potentially score 20 goals ........and before most of you bash me you gotta take into consideration that he could walk away at seasons end and they could get nothing , we could even throw in a pick

forget about lilja i just realized hes got a 1 yr deal left like regehr lol ............unless adding him with hudler and a high prick if he resigns would be good enough , anyways theres no way i see him leaving calgary
