I know most people on this board have it for Andy Sutton, but hes overrated because of his physical flash.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 Out of that list? Heck yeah he'd make the biggest impact.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 They said the biggest impact of the players listed, not in general. But nevertheless, I still don't think hes going to find what he wants financially with any of the teams interested out there.
Booster313 138 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 I think he would be a close tie with Sopel.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 Now, if the greedy bastard would just lower his salary demands. This whole thing about Markov really pisses me off. The man is not a 4 million a year player. He's an ok defenseman, but he's not that good.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 At this point, I'm really starting to warm up to the idea of bringing Markov back. With the lack of quality UFA's remaining, bringing Markov back and leaving $1-$1.75 for a deadline acquisition wouldn't be the worst idea. The problem with leaving that much salary for the deadline is the catch-22 that would result at the deadline. Sure, we could probably afford 2 major stars and even possibly a role guy at the deadline, but it would cost the farm in picks and prospects, and it would completely jeopardize our future. So, if Markov wants to come back for a contract around the $3 mil mark, I don't have a problem with that. If Kenny wants to ink Foresberg, I'm starting to warm up to that as well. Personally, I'd rather pass on Markov, sign someone like Foresberg (ack, so hard to say), and sign one major star at the deadline. I just think at this point, our D is strong enough to handle things without Markov. Sidenote: Sorry this response should almost be in a "Forward" or "Defense" thread, rather than what impact Markov would have to a team. However, I did touch on that in my response. I know what you're thinking, how can a top 4 make the most impact - well, adding him free's up the game of guys like Lidstrom and makes the signing of Rafalski a GRAND SLAM - I have been iffy about the signing of Rafalski over some of the other free agents, however, if you add a Markov, then the physical need is addressed and then Rafalski is an AMAZING signing, because you don't need that physicality out of your number 2 guy Also, he's already been in the system for 2 years - cuts out the learning curve

It would free up guys like Rafalski, Lidstrom, and Lebda because Markov can play back and let the more offensive defensmen join the rush. Ecspecially on the power play. Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 I can't believe Niinimaa is ranked 3rd on that list. I consider Sutton and Berard better than him, even though Berard is almost blind.
