"Changes to Predators lease could affect sale of team"

Does anyone have a link or further information about this 'clause'?

Am I correct in reading it that if teams don't make 14K in attendance, they don't get the revenue sharing $$? Or is every team's attendance figure different?

Among the changes being demanded by the ownership group is that the City of Nashville commit to buying any remaining tickets to ensure the average paid attendance reaches the magical threshold of 14,000. That number is among the several triggers that would allow the team to qualify for the NHL's revenue-sharing program, although it does not guarantee it would have access to the funds. In return, the group will remove the out clause from the lease, which would allow the team to buy itself out of the lease if the 14,000 mark isn't met.

Where are Legionaire and those other preds fans, they were very informed and I would like to know more about this. This is Potentially worse than anything Basille was trying to do, at least he had his intentions up front.

I will save judgment until I hear back from the informed preds fans that were here.

As a resident of Davidson county where the Preds play I don't much like the idea of paying any more taxes for this team.

I don't blame you. In Canada, the taxpayers MAKE money from their sports teams. The Habs pay more in property tax than all US teams combined.

If this screws up the sale of the Preds somehow, I am going to just laugh my ass off....

Hmm.... I hear Jim Ballsillie is looking for an NHL team....Granted he wants to move it to Hamilton, but, he doesn't have to take out a loan for 25% of it.....

The way I understand it is the Preds have to average 14,000 in attendance, or they will lose both the lease as well as the revenue. I live just south of Nashville and I would like to see the team stay, but the city has already taxed the hell out of Davidson County for the Titans, I don't think they can afford the Preds. Revenue for the city by having the team here does nothing for the citizens of Daivdson County. Most of the people that go to the games don't live in Davidson County.

This is the same thing as what happened with the Penguins last year in that seesaw bargaining process. Only this time, the team doesn't have as strong a fan base, and I don't expect to see the governor of Tennessee stepping in to save a franchise that no one cares about.
