Again, thanks to Bruce MacLeod over at Red Wings Corner.

Read the text below the list before you panic!

The first wave of roster cuts will likely be made today. Sent packing were ..

Randy Cameron

Zack Torquato

Josh Aspenlind

Victor Bartley

Yves Bastien

Scott Brannon

Chad Greenan

David Jarram

John Kurtz

Patrik Magnusson

Pierre-Oliver Pelletier

Dominic Vicari

Cameron and Torquato were drafted by the Red Wings this summer and will head back to their junior teams. The Red Wings retain their rights. The other players are free agents.

Most of the junior-eligible players were sent to their teams except for Cory Emmerton, Logan Pyett, Jan Mursak and Scott Jackson.

Pyett was told that he would be kept for a few more days and then returned to his junior team in time for its season-opener. Mursak will likely get to play in a preseason game before being sent back to junior. Jackson can go back to juniors an an over-age player. Emmerton, the Red Wings' top draft pick in 2006, has had a strong camp and will likely get a preseason game look.

Highlights for those following prospect development:

Four junior players were held back for further evaluation:

Logan Pyett is being given more time to impress the brass before returning to play on his junior team.

Jan Mursak might gets some valuable preseason minutes.

Cory Emmerton is still being evaluated by the brass after an impressive camp and prospect tournament performance.

Scott Jackson, a 6' 4" 198lb physical D-man who plays a gritty game, was drafted 37th overall in 2005 by St. Louis. The Blues didn't sign him this year, so he's shown up for the Wings camp and apparently is getting another look over.

The fighters were all brought back, so all is well on that front! :)

I'm looking forward to see what Emmerton can do in pre-season. He has a lot of hype following him since he was drafted, so I'd like to see what he can do.
