skatergod247 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2007 (edited) Last night Doc Emeric was talking about suttle rule changes one of them was on goal juge location. What is your thought about the spot the Goal Judges now sit to watch the game and turn on the light. They dont sit behind the goal anymore, they now sit on the goal line up above where the fans come in, between the upper and lower bowl on a platform, like the TV cameras are on. Some team choose not to do this (it was a team choice not mandatory). What do you think? Will they miss goal or see more of them being higher up and further from the ice? Gizmo 21 Report post Posted October 4, 2007 With video replay, the only purpose the goal judges actually serve nowadays is to alert the people at the other end of JLA when a goal has been scored.
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted October 4, 2007 With replays being used the way they are now, I'm not sure how long we'll see goal judges anymore, and that was brought up during the telecast last night. However, I don't think these changes would have been allowed if there was a chance that it might create more mistakes.

For about a decade now the real goal judge has had a seat in the video replay booth.
Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2007 this is actually going on all around the league actually, they're getting rid of the box behind the goal. the real reason for the move? it creates more premium tickets around the league. It could create anywhere from 240-360 additional seats around the league at anywhere from $100-150 or more. which could mean as much as $70M for the league.
