Opie 308 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 I'll admit he has matured since his days in Boston. When they start using on the PK or late in the game for defensive purposes then I would start to consider him a "complete" player. He has been good on faceoffs this year though, I will give you that. If he ever wins or is even considered for a Selke then I'll have a side of crow to eat. The last 2 years he was in Boston he was a great leader and by far their best player. He was still very young and had finally come into the form that was expected of him. He was the focal point of that team the minute he walked into the locker room at 18 (might have been 19). He, unlike Crosby, took a couple of years to get used to the pressure and stress. As soon as he started scoring and making plays it seemed like he kept getting more and more comfortable. And everything he said in the media led me to believe he was staying in Beantown for his career. All of the stuff I said above makes my mind swirl when I try to think of why on earth the team traded him. The Sharks pulled off a the biggest EA Sports trade ever realized in the NHL!!! Joe is a great leader and a great offensive player, his D needs work, but I would still take him in a heartbeat.

Opie 308 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 (edited) How the hell did that happen? To BOS Marco Sturm Brad Stuart Wayne Primeau TO SJ Joe Thornton Stuart and Primeau are gone and Chuck Kobasew and Andrew Ference are there instead. I would rather have Joe over all 5 combined. WingNutt 12 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 including the Red Wings my bias opinion is Pavel. his talent is limit-less. also Ovechkin, I can't believe noone has mentioned him yet, if you watch any of his games, he dominates the ice, this guy is amazing and in my opinion other than some of our Red Wing players the best in the league. Noone can stop Ovechkin, pure talent.
