lfd250 1 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 I believe (could be wrong) that the away games use the home teams feed and our guys just announce the game using it. So, if the other team isn't in HD, then it won't be here either.
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 Depends on the network covering it. HD cameras cost a lot money. Since networks are in the business of making money, the cameras might be cost prohibitive.
jgagnon2 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2007 (edited) I'm pretty sure the reason we usually dont see away games in HD has to do with FSN & contracts with other broadcasting companies. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but here in Detroit, we'll usually get away games from St. Louis on FSNHD. Pretty much all teams have their home games in HD now, I think its easier for FSN to get away games in HD when the game is on a local FSN market. That doesnt seem to be true for certain other teams ex: San Jose home games are in HD, however we never get them on FSNHD when the Wings play @ HP Pavillion. The game tonight is on some kind of local Vancouver station, i think its called Orca Bay? I don't know if its HD or not, but most teams have their home teams games' in HD. Next time you're at Joe Louis Arena, take a look at the main camera thats at the top of the lower bowl, across from the benches - you'll almost always see two cameras there. I'm not sure why, exactly, but I think that might have something to do with one being HD and one being SD, or it has something to do with one camera is FSN & the other is some other broadcaster...etc - I'd like to know more about it myself. edit- I'm stupid I thought it was Saturday night tonight Edited October 29, 2007 by jgagnon2
