13dats 1 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 Hey videomakers! I'm having troubles to rip Datsyuk's goals from NHL.com. I never have a problem last season before they switched to NHLTV and my software stop working. So who will be able to find the way to rip Datsyuk's goals in .wmv or .asf format in a good quality will have Pavel Datsyuk 8x10 signed photo. Mark my words. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 I have no digital editing skills. I was going to machine a Pasha 13 and Z 40 nameplate at the machine shop at school over the christmas break, but now I guess I'll HAVE to just to make up for my obvious failings as a computer nerd

zaxx 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 Ok man I got it to download: 1. Install Firefox Web Browser: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/firefox/ 2. Install DownloadHelper Video Download Extension: http://www.downloadhelper.net 3. Visit NHL.com watch a video 4. Pause Video During playback and let it completely download 5. Riht click somewhere on the background (not on images or video) 6. Go "Downloadhelper->Select the file you want to download" This will give you the flv format of the video clip. You need to download an flv player like wimpy: http://www.wimpyplayer.com/products/wimpy_...flv_player.html Then you can watch the file whenever you want. However if you would like it in WMV format or anything else simply use an flv to wmv converter (search google they are out there) Did I win? It works for me. zaxx 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 You can also use the great media player VLC to play the downloaded files. http://www.videolan.org/ Then follow this guide I found to output to WMV or whatever: http://www.lytebyte.com/2007/04/25/how-to-...y-other-format/

zaxx 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 It's to complecated Looks like there is more simple way to do it. I have an almost winner on my PM... Complecated, once you have the tools installed it is as simple as right clicking and selecting download video. You should really try it, there is nothing difficult. I broke it into many steps to make it easy to reproduce. Although now I am very interested in hearing about another method. The one I describe would give an exact clone of the original file (ie best quality), so I am very curious about another method.

I'm amazed how little coverage this software gets for what it can do.

I agree with you, it seems everytime I am trying to do something with video files I am totally surprised to learn that VLC can already perform the ask. (as is the case with playing flv files or converting them to WMV). It really is a great open source project!

Guest Jeremy88 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 Do you manage datsyuk13.com? I'm assuming you do, but it's nice to make sure
skacore 2 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 the way that zaxx described is a great step by step guide (very easy to set up) that will allow you to save any videos you want to in the future on your own without having someone send them to you.. it looks complicated but all you gotta do is download Mozilla Firefox which is a much better (IMO, in most people's opinions browser than IE), and then download a simple add on for that browser and it works wonders I would recommend trying it

There are many videos I like to grab a copy of just to archive and collect. If there is an easier way please enlighten us al Canadian Wings.
