2probert4 8 Report post Posted November 15, 2007 I really think most of the outrage directed at Avery was fueled by his alleged trash talk involving Blake's cancer. He might be more despised than Tucker at this point regardless, though. The Rangers released a statement on behalf of Avery but from what it said Avery has lost 2 grandparents to cancer, and he is denying the remarks about that, but said something to the effect that he couldn't comment more until the legal actions were completed. Hopefully he's not that low of a person to make jokes about cancer, considering he's lost family members to it. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Then I heard that when he was a kid his dad would make him run outside the car home if he lost a game....or something like that...and I felt bad for him. I just think Avery is an *******. Anyways, I dig everyone's points on this. I'm just finding it real hard to listen to all this crap about Avery, yet we're talking about Darcy Tucker as well. He never met a guy he didn't wanna cheapshot or blindside. It's his game. As for Avery & those cancer remarks - who knows? I also heard a relative of his had been diagnosed with cancer too, so it does baffle me as to why he would say anything that stupid. Either way, none of that takes away from the fact Tucker is the very same type of player Avery is. Yet the radios & sites are bashing only Avery. It ain't like Tucker hasn't picked on guys who don't wanna go with him - non-fighters. Last season that guy from Ottawa Tucker jumped & started pounding and on ... Then after another game you see Tucker making comments about "i'm not about to jump into a fight with a guy who can beat me"? Pathetic. Just another reason to hate the Leafs, their media & fans!! Darcy Tucker. ASSETS: None really. FLAWS: Cheapshots guys. Runs people. Cowards when challenged. Will not fight anyone who actually drops the gloves. Only fights guys who haven't fought since junior. Complainer. Takes dumb penalties. Loses focus. Thinks all NHL refs are out to get him & his team. Conman, who has milked millions out of Leaf management.. CAREER POTENTIAL: Every other teams *****!!
