Ohlund Suspended 4 games

If you want to see Homerism at its finest you have to visit the canucks board. They are just livid that Ohlund got suspended for as many games as he did. There's probably 5 people on that board that think he got what he deserved but most of the rest of those idiots think that 1. Ohlund shoud've gotten maybe 1-2 games, if any, 2. That Gaborik should've been suspended at least 5 games for elbowing Kelser and 3. That Koivu (the victim) should've been suspended at least a game or 2 or as long as Ohlund for giving Ohlund the elbow which enraged him enough to pull a lumberjack on Koivu's leg.

I've visited a couple other teams boards and by far the fanboys of Vancouver are the worst. They're absolutely terrible.

trust me, living in vancouver is even worse!! 99.9% of all canucks "fans" are a joke. when the wings played vancouver, i was at the game, now its 3-2 with 2mins left, and the arena started to empty!!! i was shocked and embarssed to be in a city like this......And then with 6 secs left to go, its a 6 on 4 for nucks and in our zone, with a tv time out, the rest of the fans who stayed started to leave!!! vancouver is by far the worst sports franchise city ever.

Never won a cup, lost the griz, and i believe that there are only 3 teams in NA pro sports who have missed the playoffs for over 10yrs straight, or 10+ losing records(not sure on the exact amount, but i know it was only 3 in all of pro sports)

The NHLPA (Lindros, Paul Kelly and the rest of the executive) have been visiting teams this fall and Lindros commented that the one issue that every team has brought up is scrapping the instigator rule.

With that in mind, look for the NHLPA to push to have the instigator rule abolished this spring/summer.

You mean something that came in under Bettman's watch the players don't like? Probably just one player on each team thinks that way.

Right Gary?

Anyway the suspension should have been harsher.

This situation can't really be compared to the Jones, Downie, or Boulerice hits, and here's why:

With Downie and Boulerice, it was a blatant cheap shot on an unsuspecting victim from players with histories of such.

With Jones, it was a hit from behind on a routine play. Two games wasn't enough, but it wasn't far off either.

With Ohlund, Koivu had literally just hit him in the head with a flying elbow. Ohlund's slash was not abnormal; you see that kind of love tap all the time with nothing more than a two minute minor. I think he probably deserved to be suspended, but those who are suggesting that Campbell (or Bettman) has suddenly gone soft because of this are off their rocker; it's not eve nremotely comparable to a couple of blatant hits to the head. Most importantly; Ohlund was not TRYING to break Koivu's leg. He was sending the message of 'don't do that again' and either through adrenaline or weak bone structure, Ohlund applied enough force to break Koivu's leg. Actual injury does not always signify intent to injure.
