auxlepli 17 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Damien Cox makes predictions about O6 teams making the playoffs this year. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/stor...&id=3127532 Given the recent track record of the teams, I'd be surprised if three make it. I think there might be an error in the article. I think it might be during World War II not after. So the name "Original Six" is, while grand in tone, somewhat misleading. In fact, those six teams -- Toronto, Montreal, Detroit, Boston, Chicago and the New York Rangers -- didn't even exist as a stand-alone group until after World War II. Icer 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 The original six were the only teams in the NHL from 19942-43 until 1966-67. However all six teams have played in the league since 1932-33 without moving or renaming a franchise. They just played with other teams prior to 1942 and after 1967. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 26, 2007 Wings, Hawks make it from the Western O6 teams. Boston, Montreal or Toronto and Boston make it. Only one O6 team will miss IMO.
