auxlepli 17 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 Very good article about Lidstrom. It has some great quotes from other coaches and players, though it has some typos.
egroen 384 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 Nice article, though I think the perception he does not raise his play from regular season to the playoffs is false. Yes, it's tough to measure the increase of a 98% effective player in season to a 99% effective player in the playoffs, but I do think it is a bit noticeable. From clutch goals to clutch open goal saves, Lidstrom does play on higher level in the playoffs.
thedisappearer 291 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 He's got a Conn Smythe and a gold medal winning goal and he doesn't step it up in the playoffs?
egroen 384 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 I think they were really reaching for just something to critique him on.

DaKineMaui 8 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 Here's all I know about Big Stick Nick. Exactly like when Vladdy was on the ice: When I see the puck enter our zone, and then note that Nick is the one falling back to engage, I get that exact same feeling - a feeling of "Whew - ah - ok - everything is gonna be OK for now. Nick's got 'em." Y'know? Like my stress level is allowed to drop to zero for 28-30 minutes each game. I appreciate that. aloha
DetroitNativePride 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2008 If Nick is already "Mr. Perfect" I'd assume it's pretty impossible to RAISE his level of play in the post-season...
