The question is this, how would you feel about the NHL implementing something like this? I think it would be interesting. I like the idea. And it would probably shut up Burke, which is always a good thing. I wouldn't expect to see it anytime soon in the nhl. But I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing. I guess players like Lidstrom who have/will play their whole careers with one team could be labeled as a franchise player. It's just a showing of confidence in the organization such as Detroit for Lidstrom. i think some on here would say, yeah a franchise player is our Captain, duh!
