MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 The word on the street from rival general managers around the league is that Lightning GM Jay Feaster is in a situation where he's being told by potential team owner Oren Koules to find out what he could get for veteran forward Brad Richards. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=230150&hubname=

imisssergei 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Richards is having a rough year. He is last in the league in +/- with a -25, closely followed by Briere at -22. Talk about overpaid......
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Richards to Toronto for Kubina, wouldnt look too bad if the Leafs were also able to get rid of McCabe and Blake.
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Richards to Toronto for Kubina, wouldnt look too bad if the Leafs were also able to get rid of McCabe and Blake. You'd have a mess of no-trades to deal with there, although Kubina can be traded to Tampa Bay without being able to void it.

Guest Canadian Wings Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Whoever grabs Richards for that price tag i feel sorry for them. Although in a year or two it probably won't look to bad as salary's increase. When he signed his deal it was horrible for the Lightning at the time.

Im thinking San Jose and Anaheim may find him intresting, if Hossa or Sundin don't land there!

Im thinking San Jose and Anaheim may find him intresting, if Hossa or Sundin don't land there! Anaheim doesn't have anywhere near the cap space to take Richards. Everything I have heard indicates that Sundin is probably heading to Anaheim, with Bobby Ryan at the centre of the package coming back.
sixer 37 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Everything I have heard indicates that Sundin is probably heading to Anaheim, with Bobby Ryan at the centre of the package coming back. But does Sundin want to go there, that's the question. I think Lidstrom was a little more convincing when he talked to Sundin about coming to Detroit then Bertuzzi was, lol. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Yeah, Detroit and Anaheim are the only teams willing to give lots for Sundin. Unfortunately for us, Burke will shell out for a chance to repeat. This guy is all about the glory, he'll do whatever it takes to win. What... Ever.

sixer 37 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 I don't think he'll have much of an issue going to the defending Cup champions. Ya, but there's more to it then that my friend. I don't think he cares about that as we're both cup contenders, but rather that Detroit has the most swedes in the league by far and he wouldn't be that far from T.O. as he has alot friends there, that's the key, not far from T.O. 'Mats says he will always keep a place here in TO, even when his playing days are over. The Rosedale mansion that famously went on the market last summer, leading to speculation about Sundin's intentions, is no longer for sale and he lives there alone. "I've been in Toronto 12 years. It certainly feels like home.''' - Source The Star If he goes anywhere, he's coming here man!!!!!

I don't think playing with Swedes is a huge factor for Mats. I think that's more of a factor for younger kids who are getting used to North America. Mats has been here for 20 years. If it's for three months or so, I doubt Mats cares if he's close to Toronto. He doesn't have family in Toronto, he doesn't have kids. He'll be back in Toronto soon enough. As long as he's going to a contender, I believe Mats will pick the trade that benefits the Leafs the most. That's the kind of guy he is. sixer 37 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Fair enough, but Mats is also a Class act and would like to play for a classy organization like the Wings, and not with a Bunch of Thugs from Anaheim.

I heard Fletcher will only bring the best trade to the table for Mats when it's all said and done and he'll make his decision. I also heard he'll only goto Detroit, but like u said going to Anaheim isn't something you wouldn't welcome.

The TSN panel was talking that Fletcher would take acceptable offers to Sundin and would let him choose the trade to take. John Ferguson was on before the Stars/Flames game and said he expects Sundin to go to a West Coast team. The Score started a rumour that Mats would only go to Detroit, but that one didn't have any legs. Just hearsay. Before 2007-2008, the Leafs werent always this soft. Back when they had Roberts, Domi, Marchment, etc. He'd have no problem with thugs in Anaheim.

Well if he's taking acceptable trades to Sundin he'd have the chance to chose Detroit or Anaheim would he not? Because i'm pretty sure Sundin is Holland's first choice and he'd lay something on the table. I don't know if i'd trust what JFJ would have to say, or if he'd even know besides speculating. Because he wouldn't. This is all speculation, what TSN says, The Score, ******* anyone...all speculation until Tuesday approaches i figure.

If Anaheim doesn't seem to have the cap space, then why are they up there in contention with us or others for players like Hossa, Sundin? Those are going to be big money contracts, especially if it's true that Hossa will only take a long term big dollar contract. As well as Sundin, they know what they have up there in Toronto with him. sticknmove 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 Forget everyone else we need Hossa, well not need, but would benefit most from Hossa. Especially with the additions that San Jose and Anaheim is looking to make. God this would be easier if we were in the Eastern Conference ya know.

Well considering sundin is almost for signing with toronto again in the summer, i believe that would work with their cap situation. Going after Hossa would not work as he is indeed looking for a longer contract with whichever team he is dealt to.
