NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 4, 2008 The Caps have been playing great hockey these past few months, & these last few games are against weaker opponents (TB, & FLA); their playoff destiny lied in their own hands, & they appear to be making the most of it. I for 1 would like to see A.O. in the playoffs You do realize that the TB game was last night, and the Caps won it 4-1. They are now tied with Carolina at 92 points, but don't hold the tiebreaker. On top of that, their playoff destiny at this point does not lie in their hands as Philly has a game in hand and are only 1 point behind Washington.
McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted April 4, 2008 (edited) Devils vs Flyers and Bruins vs vs Senators are 2 HUGE games tonight. If both the Flyers (only get 1 point) and/or Bruins lose to the Sens, the Caps would be assured of a playoff spot with a win in their last game. However, if the Bruins beat the Sens, the Caps would be guaranteed a spot by winning their last game (tie breaker in points would go to Caps because they'd be tied in wins, but Washington swept the season series). Now, if it comes down to the Bruins and Caps for the final playoff spot (Bruins lose tonight and both they and the Caps win their last game) then it goes to a tiebreaker. The Caps would be in because they'd have the higher number of wins... wow, this weekends games are gonna be fun to watch. McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted April 4, 2008 Oh that's right......see this is too confusing! haha Yeah, no kidding. I'm imagining this end of the season into the playoffs is going to be great for the playoffs. Probably selling a ton of tickets to the last couple games (at least the ones w/ playoff implications which is almost every game). TV ratings gotta be up too. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 4, 2008 (edited) If the Caps lose to FLA - well then they just might not make the playoffs...The Canes however play FLA the night before the Caps do, & maybe they'll wear them down for the Caps - making the Panthers an easier opponent? Canes haven't been as consistent as the Caps as of late, & IMO are more likely of blowing their last game. Philly may have an extra game, but their last 2 opponents are NJ, & Pitt - not exactly easy opponents, & I'd be willing to say that Philly will lose 1 of those 2 games - maybe both. The Caps have been playing great hockey; I'm certain they'll win on Saturday, & will take either the #3 seed away from the Canes , or stay @ their current 8th spot. EDIT - yes I was aware the Caps won last night; the little guy keeps me up @ night, & me memory/thinking @ times is a bit foggy Regardless, my point was that the Caps do not hold their destiny in their own hands. If Philly puts up 2 wins in their final two games regardless of what Washington does tomorrow, they are out given a couple other factors out of Washington's hands. Edit: Congrats again on the little guy. That's gotta be incredible. Edited April 4, 2008 by Never Forget Mac #
arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2008 If you've never been to a carolina hurricanes playoffs game, don't say something that naive. i live in Raleigh. The STATE of north carolina, might care jack all about the canes, but i assure you the city of Raleigh cares a great deal. I remember in both their run to the cup in 02' and their win 2 years back, the arena was insane! Amongst the loudest in the entire league!

Edit: Congrats again on the little guy. That's gotta be incredible. actually, i'm pretty sure that as long as ottawa vs. boston ends in regulation time tonight the caps are in with a win tomorrow ... as long as it ends in regulation, the most the loser can reach is 94 points, which the caps would also have with a win, and unless i'm mistaken the caps hold the tiebreaker against both ... philly could finish ahead of them, but that would eliminate the loser of ottawa/boston, not the caps ... Go Bruins. Ottawa is usually pretty bad without Alfredsson. They won't have Fisher, either.
