My question is: what happens if the Sharks don't advance? Is Ron Wilson gone? Has to be one of the most underachieving playoff teams ('cept the Wings) the last few years? They're one of the heavy favorites

If they lose this series - Wilson would have to go. If they get bounced in round 2 or 3 by a good team - maybe not, who knows with them. Depends what you mean by the "last few years' but I would say the Sharks are far more underachieving than the Wings. I would base this on us having at least won the Cup as the favorites in 2002 (and if you want to go back to 97,98 as well). Sure we flopped in the first or second round for several POs after that, but at least the Wings did win it all as the favorites once this decade. The Sharks have not gone to the SCF yet - even though their team history is quite brief.

The Sharks certainly underachieved more than the Wings in the playoffs the last few years. The only team the Sharks can beat in the playoffs is Nashville, and everyone else they choke against. Hell, every time we've been eliminated early we still outplayed the team they beat us, which is unfortunate really. But hey, everytime we do get upset, it is ALWAYS by the team that represents the West in the Stanley Cup finals, so its like like we are the only team to get bounced by the Edmontons, 2003 Anaheims, and 2004 Calgary's of the NHL.
