edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Let's see if Burkie takes credit for the Ducks' failures - which will be his - as well as he does their successes - which were essentially Brian Murray's.

I disagree. I think Bryan Murray had very little to do with their Cup-winning team. The major cogs of their team (Niedermayer, Selanne, Giguere, Pahlsson) were not brought in by Murray. I don't think he did anything good for them.

So drafting Getzlaf and Perry and signing Kunitz as an undrafted free agent does not count as something good for the organization?
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Burke had practically no tangible positive impact to the Ducks outside of Pronger's wife demanding he be traded to the Pond and him reaping the benifits of other big names wanting to get on board. The foundation was not his to claim, and this year he burried the Ducks into salary cap trouble and traded away an important piece to gain a healthy scratch Doug Weight. The only positive to having Brian Burke is his bitching tends to work for whatever reason, he is responsible for the Al twirling rule as well as Pronger getting 10 million breaks in suspensions. I would have no problem with the Ducks if Pronger and Burke were gone, but until they do they are public enemy number number one imo. No matter, he will just keep screwing up the team and others like Pronger or the Oilers will come around to bail him out. If I had a Genie my three wishes would be to make Pronger Burke and Bettman dissapear. Forever.
Doggy 130 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 So drafting Getzlaf and Perry and signing Kunitz as an undrafted free agent does not count as something good for the organization? Okay, he brought in three good players. That's SOMETHING. What a hero. No wonder they won a Cup. My point was made.
superstarsingh 23 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Okay, he brought in three good players. That's SOMETHING. What a hero. No wonder they won a Cup. My point was made. Getzlaf led the team in scoring in the playoffs and Perry was tied for second. Without those two things could have been quite different. I dont care for Murray much but the man played a role in the eventual success of the Anaheim organization. So for you to say that you dont think that he did anything good for them is highly questionable.

He was not responsible for the Cup though. End of story.
