Doggy 130 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 The first statement CANNOT be true, as Nonis was fired by the Canucks a month ago and speaking to him would not require permission. Well, it is true. Dave Nonis is still an employee of the Canucks organisation as he is still under contract therefore permission is required. I do agree with your statement on Bob Clarke however. He's too old, the game has passed him by. Wasn't he with Philly for like 40 years or something?

Son of a Wing 1,644 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) The first statement CANNOT be true, as Nonis was fired by the Canucks a month ago and speaking to him would not require permission. The second is unlikely as Clarke stepped down from his GM position in Philadelphia due in large part to his age and the fact he didn't feel capable of dealing with the daily stress any longer. Why would he leave a job as a VP in Philadelphia for the GM position in Toronto? He'd likely make less, see more stress, and would not be working for the Flyers organization he has spent most of his 30+ years in professional hockey working for. Do some reading first Eva. As Doggy stated Nonis is still under payroll and therefor does require permission. As for Bobby Clarke I'll direct you to an article from less than a month ago. digitaljohn88 4 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Leafs Fire Maurice, Everyone Else Haha, the Leafs are taking a winning attitude. Larry Tanenbaum, MLSE Chairman of the Board, had this to say in this morning’s press conference: “I believe we made the right decision on the matter. The Maple Leafs needed new leadership, top to bottom. We’ve listed the now-open positions on Monster.com. Potential candidates must submit a resume and have at least six months experience in the hockey business.” I think I'm qualified!
Hank 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Same here Wonder if this firing is gonna weigh on the mind of Scotty Bowman? Wasn't it said some time ago if Bowman were hired by the Leafs he's want his own coaching staff?...Now's a good a time as any if the MLSE were gonna make another pitch to Bowman. Yeah, it was rumored that Bowman was going to clean house from GM's to coaching staff. But Richard Peddie blocked it. Bowman will never go to the Leafs because there's too many roosters in the henhouse. That's why you're seeing a lot of GM's turning Fletcher down. Their best shot would be to get the coach and GM from the Chicago Wolves. They've done an outstanding job and being as young as they are they'll take any NHL job that comes their way. But in the end the Leafs are screwed. As long as Peddie is in office they'll never accomplish squat. Why? Because Peddie and the BOG on the MLSE board don't want them to. Anyways, Leafs requested permission to speak to Doug Wilson, but San Jose declined.
Opie 308 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=237133&...s=headlines_nhl "Larry was told then, and I've run into (MLSE president) Richard Peddie a couple of times since and reiterated, that they are under contract for three more years," Red Wings senior vice-president Jim Devellano told the paper. "It doesn't matter how many times I tell members of the Toronto media that Ken Holland and Jim Nill are not coming to Toronto, they still are mentioned as possibilities or candidates. I'm telling you that is not the case."

Get some guy named Scotty Boemane, from DIV III Girls Volleyball, Tulsa Oklahoma. (Leafs fans wouldn't know.)
