NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 Cant believe they took McCarty out the line-up... Meh... who needs an enforcer in playoff hockey... heres to more Chris Pronger-like cheap shots! Im going to bed. I'm one of those "if it isn't broke, don't try and fix it" type of guys, but I think Babs' reasoning for taking out Mac was that Dallas is more of a "skill" team that doesn't deliver dirty hits. That, and the balance of the Stars offense is probably what prompted Babs to make the change given that now you have a shutdown great shutdown line, with three lines that could put the puck in the net. I'm totally blanking right now for some unknown reason, but I can't remember if the fourth line rolled Hudler-Helm-Drake with the third line rocking Cleary-Draper-Maltby. I believe thats what the lines looked like.....was that right?

Dallas is no different than any other team, since everyone seems to have a little pest like that in the lineup.

We need to stop him from roughing up our skill players (aka Chelios). I never thought I'd say that about Chelios, but he's not quite what he used to be in the physical prowess dept. redwinger4747 6 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 I honestly would love to see Mac play, but not for Maltby. If your talking Drake vs McCarty vs Maltby vs Helm, Maltby should be the first one in the lineup. After that, it is a really tough call. Pick two of Helm, McCarty, Drake. I might actually take Helm and McCarty, but this is hard.

Chelios and skill player do not belong together in the same sentence...I bet even he would admit that!

After that, it is a really tough call. Pick two of Helm, McCarty, Drake. I might actually take Helm and McCarty, but this is hard. mac- Helm- Huds has been a very good energy line, and I think that energy was missing last night, remember only one goal for the wings was ES. Drake -Draper - Cleary should not be messed with at all, best defensive line on the ice and Drake is hitting anything that moves this post season! Thus leaving Maltby out. I have said since the start of the year, the long term Maltby deal was a bad idea. If these playoffs are a sign of things to come, Maltby may be trade bait. But seeing what he has done for this team I don't see them trading him.
jvxp 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 I've liked Mac's play, and I've been relatively pleased with Drake's play, but its a tough decision to figure out who to sit. I'm ok with it being Maltby, but what do the rest of you think? I'd put Drake and Malts at a push, with Drake being a little slower, but maybe a tad more physical than Malts. Thoughts? I would go with Drake. He hits harder then Maltby and is faster then McCarty.

Dallas is no different than any other team, since everyone seems to have a little pest like that in the lineup. Playing aggressively is very different than running players illegally. As a whole, the Stars don't have a Tootoo in their lineup, so no, every team isn't the same. If a team has more scoring balance you're better off with a guy like Maltby in over D-Mac. Simple as that.
