Anyone miss the old loose nets?

Hi - anyone miss the old loose nets? Last night when Zet scored at the beginning of the 3rd period I had no idea it was a goal until the announcer cried out. With the old nets the puck would push the netting out and would give you something to look at. And I beileve it was more dramatic.

I guess I just like that effect more than the current fixed nets.

Just my 2 cents. :)

is the idea with the more ridged nets that now the puck can go off the back of them and allow play to continue when pucks are being chopped at behind the goal? i didn't watch hockey when they had looser nets, so i can't really say, though i think it would be better to see the net move. plus, for some reason it's less satisfying to me (though not much less) when the puck bounces right back out after a goal. i'd much rather have the opposing goalie have to dig the puck out from behind his own goal line.

I don't usually loose sight of the puck, even on goals. (HDTV FTW.) Maybe its just the goalie in me, but I like the tight nets.

Sometimes when the puck shoots back out and hits the goalie in the ass, its like a double reminder that he just got owned.

I agree...I miss the days when the league used the looser nets instead of the tighter ones

there are some teams (Phili) that still have nets that are way looser then the others. Just something i picked up while watching game three and wondered the same as the creator of this topic haha

I totally agree. The whole point of the game is to score, and when the puck hits the back of the net, it should generally stay there instead of bouncing right back out. It's much more satisfying as a fan.
