Western Conference Champions Merch

Hey everyone, I look at this forum on pretty much a daily basis, but rarely post and I have just a quick question about the Western Conference Champions merchandise. A few friends and I are going to the Tigers game tonight and with Hockeytown Cafe right across the road and Hockeytown Authentics on the way, I would like to stop and buy a hat or a t-shirt with Western Conference Champions on it, but is ok to buy the merch before the SCF or is it a curse like touching the trophy? Just wondering what everyone thinks.

I personally picked up the 2002 Western Conference merch as soon as we won the cup back then... it was on discounted sale because it wasn't the latest and greatest.

Well, my personal take:

1) Yes, it is a curse.

2) If the team captains won't touch the Campbell/Wales trophies, I won't touch the merchandise.

3) If you lose in the Cup Finals, who really cares that you won the Conference? The shirt just becomes a reminder of what could have/should have been.

4) If you win the Cup, spend the money on Cup merchandise!

So...yeah...not my bag, baby!

That about covers it for me too. Wearing conference champions merchandise is like advertising you couldn't finish.

I bought the hat and ladies t for my wife. It'll get worn even WHEN the Wings beat the pens. I just liked the hat a lot.

I should probably leave them in the box when they arrive however until SCF are completed.

I made the mistake of buying a 2006 Playoffs T-shirt right after they won Game 1 against Edmonton.... I won't make that mistake again.

Hmmm. I don't agree.

I bought the Western Champs shirt and wore it all the time after the Wings beat the Avs in '02. It worked great for me! I plan on buying the new shirt and hat for this year asap.

No it's not a curse, I have bought one every time they made it to the finals since '97 and they won. So you can look at it either way. I was soooo hoping Lids was gonna pick up that trophy like Stevie in '02! That woulda been awesome!!
