During the NHL Network pre game show.

Gary Greene interviewed Jimmy Devellano, during the interview, Jimmy D said that the story about a new building in Detroit is NOT a rumor, and that in 5-10 years, the Red Wings will have a new arena.

That's a hell of a window there.

I think Michigan's Economy has alot to do with it. I'm probably wrong about this. I would love to see a new arena, oh my god it would be like Red Wings heaven with the history of the franchise. But until it does happen, the Joe works.

well, at least we can make another trip out to Detroit and see the Joe again before they tear it down... I was thinking it would have been sooner than 5-10 years... that's a realllly long time and the Joe is already really old. One of the biggest disadvantages I see is that there's not enough restooms, we basically showed up 1hr before the game and I drank as little as possible to avoid standing in a line of 25 people and missing part of the game.

I'd say that Illitch spends some change on some freshening of the arena between now and the "New arena era", I wouldnt be surprised to see new video boards of the corners or a new scoreboard along the luxury boxes (Those who have been to JLA will know what I mean)...
