Wing Fanatic 3 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I am not trying to hate on Detroit but seriously, why is it that Detroit plays lousy when they have the opponents with their back against the wall?
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 It's been back and forth in the playoffs. We finished off the divealanche easily, but they were just a joke of a team. It's all about attitude and killer instinct. They better have it for game 4.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I agree, they better have that killer instinct next game. I don't think we want to let Pittsburgh get too confident! We've had a game like this every series. It's just one game. It's not like Pittsburgh dominated us. Without that rough start, Wings win this game. Next game the Wings know what to expect and can adapt accordingly and not have such a rough, surprise start. Wings still have this series under control. Casey 145 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Just to head off some of the negative threads that come up after losses... The Wings will be fine. They played overall pretty well, just got caught with some bad bounces and some bad turnovers. They'll come out firing in game 4. Who's with me? Let's talk all the good things they've done so far, and get some positive energy flowing!
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Damn! We have choked away another series! I'm going to go root for the Ducks now!
MonkeyGoalie 14 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Even though we lost I'm happy with the outcome. Yes we played crappy some of the time but we came out of the game with one less goal compared to our 4-0 and 3-0 spanking that we gave them for the first 2 games. redwings1914 18 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 We played s***ty half the game and we still had a chance to tie it....
Zion 93 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Definitely not worried, but a game 4 win is a MUST. They have an extra day off. Take it easy tomorrow, good skate on Friday and come out with guns blazing on Saturday. WINGS IN 5!!! Raise the Cup at the Joe!!!
fastballspecial 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 hey, look on the bright side. no one on the Wings skated up to people and punched them in the head for no reason.
McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 1) We still have the lead and command the series 2) If we fix our power play, we'll cream them 3) We had our worst game of the series and were 1 shot away from sending the game to OT. 4) Now we can lift Lord Stanley's Cup on home ice
Copenhagen848 58 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I'm not worried. They were behind but didn't get rattled. I'm still very confident in the Wings, and they still appear to be confident as well. I knew the Penguins would get at least one win at home.
miller76 463 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 You all have to remember that this is babcocks way of making sure we win the cup in front of the home crowd! lol. I am pissed too, but we will definetly bounce back! Not worried here.
Yak19 303 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 2 terrible periods from us, Pens had to play their very best and it was a 1 goal game and we outshot them, carried the play for the last 11 minutes or so of the game, knowing our team we bounce back with a complete effort and take the next 2. GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CAredwingsfan91 28 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 (edited) they needed to come out with more jump and play more physical i've said it before they feed of the physical play, its the 1st game at the igloo their fans are obviously a hell of a lot louder than the joe, or at least from what i can hear through the tv but it does sound a hell of a lot louder than the joe does. 2nd game will be a completely different story they know what to expect and how loud it gets we'll be fine. Copenhagen848 58 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 The team as a whole just "looks" better in this loss if you know what I mean? The looks on their faces, their body language, etc. They still look very confident.
wingfan_32807 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 They need to stay out of the freakin' penalty box----when they get penalties it seems they come right behind one another....so it's like a 4 minute kill....with maybe a 30-second 5-on-5.
Xitium 272 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I am not trying to hate on Detroit but seriously, why is it that Detroit plays lousy when they have the opponents with their back against the wall? Yeah. Just like they did in game 4 of the Colorado series. Oh wait.
Matt 1,049 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I am not trying to hate on Detroit but seriously, why is it that Detroit plays lousy when they have the opponents with their back against the wall? Did it ever occur to you that it's because the opponents have their backs against the wall? The Penguins picked up the tempo tonight and played well. Kudos to them. Outside of a few really glaring turnovers Detroit didn't play bad. They weren't as assertive and aggressive as they could have been, for sure, but I don't think anyone really though this would be a sw*ep regardless of how the first two games went. Pittsburgh got a big lift from getting the first goal -- that was glaringly obvious. However, I thought Detroit responded well. Who knows, if Staal's double-minor on Lidstrom gets called not long after Franzen cut it to 2-1, we could be talking about an entirely different game. Those are the breaks, however. s*** happens -- but absolutely nothing that happened in this game has made me waiver at all about the capabilities of this Red Wings team. Detroit wasn't outplayed tonight, Pittsburgh simply cached in on some horrid Detroit turnovers.
Chris L 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 The Wings we know didn't show up. They seemed to be off stride until the 3rd period. running into eachother, horrible transition at the bench, slow feet, missed assignments... it was like they were jet lagged or something. The Pens did nothing new or terrifying tonight, the Wings didn't bring their 'A' game until it was too late, they lost the game tonight, the Pens had nothing to do with it IMO. Well, our boys will be back in Game 4 roaring from this, bet on it.
shanny is the man 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Don't worry folks. We did not get dominated. The team beat itself tonight and if not for hitting one pipe tonight (holmstrom's) we would have tied the game and changed momentum. We're the experienced playoff team, not them. Babcock is the better coach and will make the correct adjustments. We have more depth., etc. etc. etc. I guess my point is that the Wings still have control of the series and, despite the loss tonight, have better players, a better coach and have more going in their favor than does s***sburgh. The Wings have handled adversity so well this post season and they will rebound on Saturday. And please, it matters not what Mike Milbury, Pierre McGuire or any other talkinjg head thinks or says. Chin up and do not doubt our guys!
Wing Fanatic 3 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Very good posts! You all are right, it's nothing to get worked up about. It is just difficult to see a team dominate and then struggle. A very good point was made about we almost tied it up, even with how bad we were playing. Wings in 5, Lord Stanley raised in front of the hometown fans and give all the biased announcers the big FU! NHLrules? 32 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Damn! We have choked away another series! I'm going to go root for the Ducks now! Dont laugh dude. The Pen have more offense than other teams we have face. In the west its a defensive game so we can have a s***ty PP and win. As you saw we need to be able to score and have killer instinct to win. Not to mention the refs and Pens are now in this series again.
