FunkedUp 29 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Does anyone know when there's going to be a Wings parade or party in Sweden? I'd imagine them setting something pretty big up there.

It's definatly gonna be something when the players bring over the cup to their home towns. I'm not sure though if they are gonna do something big for all the players at the same time. Nev 1,085 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Yeah ive been watching since 96 Roll on october for the start of our defence Hail the worlds best hockey team Got in there in '92 meself. Sadly, I had to record the game and watch it this morning, holding a crabby baby and with the wife yakking away to her parents who were staying with us. I'm there trying to control myself thinking "the Wings are in the SCF, dammit!"

Guest mindfly Report post Posted June 5, 2008 When is the first british person gonna play in the NHL? You have potential to be good... but you have like 5 ice rinks in the whole country... pity f*** soccer *although man utd is damn good*
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 As great as Oz was, I think they made the right decision giving it to Hank. Don't get me wrong, I would've had no problem with Oz getting it, as I feel he would probably be "number 2 in votes", but I think Hank is definintely the Conn Smythe winner. Lids is right there with those two as well.

Nev 1,085 Report post Posted June 6, 2008 When is the first british person gonna play in the NHL? There have been several players who were born in Britain but grew up in Canada (Owen Nolan, Byron Dafoe spring to mind), but no-one who has come through the British "system" (if you can call it that). The Oilers drafted a guy in the 80s, forget his name though. Part of the problem is the way our leagues are set-up, they're just stuffed full of British-Canadian imports and there is no effort to develop our own players with youth teams etc.
