Crosby/Malkin injuries?

Well. I think Crosby had a yeast infection..... I'm kidding.

As for Malkin, it almost seemed like the way he was playing, he had the flu for more than just games 1 and 2.

But as ineffective as he was up until game 6. They might have been better off just sitting him.

Especially after the beating he took in the media after games 1 and 2. He was certainly hung out to dry by the Pens coaches and his teammates.

Of course, we're going to hear about Crosby playing through injuries for months now. :P

Begrudgingly, though, I have to give him credit. To play like that through groin and rib injuries - and play as well as he did, ultimately - is impressive. Not as impressive as Yzerman's one-good-leg, but Sid's got potential there.

well lets see the Wings had injuries as well Flip played with an injured knee, Holmstrom and Franzen both missed games, Cleary was hurt early in the year and was just getting back. If everyone was healthy it wouldnt have mattered Wings would have still won

I would be more impressed if that weren't the case with half of NHLers.

Actually with Malkin though, I have to tip my hat. The guy was clearly exhausted. Just gassed. He kept going out there shift after shift though, even for three overtimes, even though you could tell he was sucking wind by the second period. And he took a beating in the press.

I figured something like this would be released afterwards. Ref excuses won't work now so they injury excuses are being used. Please; almost everyone has an injury this time of year.

Please stop with this...Wings released post finals injuries too....

No one was 100%

well Crosby isn't the only one who played trough injuries

Detroit News: Injuries? Yeah, they had a few. More than a few, actually. Talked to a champagne-soaked trainer, Piet van Zant, in the Zamboni entrance a couple hours ago and his initial response was, "Everybody was playing through something." But then he rattled off the abridged version:

Tomas Holmstrom was playing with a sports hernia (for a long time) and a torn hamstring.

Valtteri Filppula wasn't practicing because of a fairly signficant knee injury.

Brad Stuart also was playing with a knee injury that would've had him sitting in the regular season. Darren Helm limped out of there tonight with a nasty Charley horse.

And, yes, there was more than just concussion-like symptoms plaguing Johan Franzen, but van Zant said the team and Franzen will wait a day or two before explaining what exactly went on with that whole saga.

There's more than that, obviously, but it gives you an idea of just why we call this the toughest trophy in sports to win.
