Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 (edited) To be honest, I thought he was still on the Canes, I didnt even know he was on Anaheim. come to think of it, he did go back to the Blues after winning the cup with the Canes. Did Anaheim get him at the deadline this past season? Edited July 3, 2008 by Lidstromrules16

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 I lost track of Doug Weight a long time ago. I hear his name popped up but I'm not ashamed to say that as a massive hockey fan, I have no idea what teams he's played since St. Louis years ago.

Did Anaheim get him at the deadline this past season? No, they traded for him early in the season to "get some scoring". How'd that work out for you Burke? Guest Dump-N-Thump Report post Posted July 3, 2008 No, they traded for him early in the season to "get some scoring". How'd that work out for you Burke? No. they had to clear cap space for Needer and Teemmmuuuu... So theytraded Andy McDonald away for Dougy Weight and some weak prospect..
Jericho613 74 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 He's one player I wish would just retire. I don't see how he helps a team, maybe experience or leadership, sure as hell not with the scoring.

That was part of it, but Teemu didn't sign on until months later. Yes, they needed cap room, but scoring was also a major concern up until Weight was added. That being said, it never became a non-issue the rest of the season even when Teemu was added.

RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 I didn't even know the guy was still playing hockey. lol me neither - or still rotting away with the Blues. There are certain teams you never hear on the radar in the offseason - the Blues are one of them - don't do big off season signings I guess....

UKWING 8 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 I try to forget the Wings still have sammy.......lord do I try. still with the sammy bashing? really?!? to be fair, i suppose he does eat up a whopping $1.2m of vauable cap space every year and all he does is score 2 crucial solo goals in game 1 of the SCF and make a vital assist in the cup-clinching game. he also had more points than mule and flip during the regular season - 2 guys who will demand much larger salaries than sammy's $1.2m. why is it that there always has to be a whipping boy even when things are going as well as they are atm?!? I think too that he's proven himself worthy enough to be on the roster. This projected third line should be very good: Cleary - Draper - Samuelsson
